Finally saw this today. Had been trying since it came out, but couldn't make the time.
And I have time to see it again tomorrow.
And I will.

Captain America on twitter is an hilarious concept. He has to be... Civil War was partially based on him not having a myspace!

Cap looked liked a dope, Iron Man was a fascist, Spidey was a dope(and that nonsense with his identity led to OMD) and Sally f***ing Floyd was the literal mouthpiece on WHY Marvel citizens suck.

Falcon is Captain America now, Thor is a woman, and there are a billion Spider-Men and women running around. People that don't read comics but like the movies aren't going to become fans of the comics if they don't resemble what they loved about the movies. And people that are already comic readers are burnt out on mega crossovers. So why does this need to happen? The only people that are going to buy it will be the same people that buy Marvel crossovers anyway. They could easily just come up with a fresh story at least for those people.

Because they want it to be a legendary story like Age of Apocalypse and the Kree-Skrull war.
In their minds, if they keep treating it like that, eventually people will believe them.

I haven't read one of these mega crossovers sone the original Civil War, but I do recall seeing a bunch of rehash tie ins like Old Man Logan and crap like that. I guess to each his own, but I will never understand why people keep supporting this stuff. I've gotten to a point that I can only enjoy the more fringe books Marvel and DC put out because they don't get as affected by this stuff aside from constant renumbering. The downside though is that the good stuff like that never lasts longer than a year or so. But I digress, I am actually excited for the Civil War movie even though I didn't like the comic that much. I didn't like the Age Of Ultron mini either a few years back but thought the movie was good. Aside from Agent Carter, I've enjoyed everything the MCU has produced. Agents of Shield is kind of weak, but it's always just good enough to keep me watching. So anyway, Deadpool huh?

The Secret Wars Civil War tie-in was really good. Tony and Jen were going out, Spidey was the Falcon (and emerges as a true bonafide leader in the end) and it even incorporated elements of Secret Invasion into the overall conclusion. It was by Charles Soule so it was always going to be a winner with me.

I think why the Civil War movie looks better than the comic is that already we see Tony acting like Tony.
He's not trying to super law abiding but he's letting his emotions dictate his actions. One of his biggest weaknesses is Stark's guilt and his need to make it right. This movie looks like to me at least a slight change on the Armor Wars story.

Civil War was actually the straw that broke the Camel's back and I quit collecting and reading comics midway thru it. Marvel had not even completely concluded House of M a few months before and they were already setting it up. They diverted every single title and I was forced to buy books I'd never ever considered. By month three my comics budget had swollen so far I had to scale back. With no end in sight I skipped a month for the first time in decades (that's no shit man). Finally I couldn't keep up so I quit

Civil War/OMD made me quite bitter at Marvel for years. In fact, I still somewhat root for them to fail whenever I hear of sliding sales and declining interest in their gimmicky initiatives even if they're putting out the occasional book I like.

Soule's Civil War during Secret Wars was very good. Limited series premise (based on the mainstream one but vastly different) that he made his own and was quite readable. Finally I couldn't keep up so I quit I gave up a lot of Marvel around 10 years ago. Little side projects (like AGENTS OF ATLAS) kept me onboard - and Brubaker's Cap, which managed to spin Steve's Civil War into something fascinating. I've wandered back in years since, again still trying to focus on the less-than-mainstream books, but it's never felt the same. This one is existing solely to cash in on the movie. It sounds (once again) like a very hamfisted story. I actually don't even know if this one will be as extensive (crossing over into, like, 90% of all series) or actually something that exists on its own. And I think Deadpool would appreciate us to talk about Civil War of all oh and I've been brutally killed with a katan--

Laughed my ass off, had no idea about any character in this flick, and came out interested in all of them afterwards
