I know people crap on that zombie segment that started things off but honestly I saw it for what it was. They needed someone to get pummelled by Sandman with a Cane so why not get a silly jobber? People loved it because Sandman caned someone and no one of importance was buried. Wait people hated that segment? I get that it maybe initially hated for being the first segment and moment of the brand new ECW, but holy f*** that was hilarious. Edit: I just googled the ECW Zombie and he passed away earlier this year It may not be people, it might just be WWE. I've seen a few instances where it was shown as an example of bad things wwecw did. Dur, they had a zombie dur. Kinda thing.

Anyway, ECW at the time was f***ing brilliant. The early days where they attempted to be like the ECW of old were brilliant, then WWE stopped committing to that - then it became the Lashley show, which was a rough period. After Lashley went, it suddenly became the place for new guys and veterans (funnily enough... like the ORIGINAL ECW was) and it out of nowhere became the best wrestling show on TV for a few years until it was cancelled. I have almost as many fond memories of WWECW as the original ECW. NXT is now a better show than it was, though they're tricky to really compare.

I miss Christian's title run. That was great. Was just fun seeing him defend it each week, usually in decent matches against anyone on the roster.

The ECW revival got a bad rap because people were expecting it be as exactly the same as the original. Once they got away from pushing the ECW originals heavily and moving the younger talent to the forefront and downplaying the original ECW stuff, things got better. For quite a while, it was the best show on tv. How people are on the NXT bandwagon, it was the same for ECW.

Big Show as champion was awesome. That is all Big Show, at his fattest, most injured, worst look, worst cardio, and he has the run of his f***ing career. It was genuinely brilliant.

"Remember WWECW?"

Yeah I recall Christian's run on ECW being really excellent. The guy managed to pull something watchable out of Ezekiel Jackson for crying out loud. What's weird is that I didn't think the TV leading up to D2D was really even bad. Though largely forgotten I'd say Rob Van Dam's post weed arrest work in 2006-07 was awesome. The guy was killing it against the likes of Test and Bob Holly. He even managed to get something out of Elijah Burke, which CM Punk never figured out how to do.
NXT might have better two hour specials, but I'd say overall week to week the new ECW was a far better show than NXT.

I really liked WWECW and it was easily my favorite wrestling show when it was around. Shame that many didn't and still won't give it the credit it deserves.
To me NXT feels like the spiritual successor to WWECW in many ways.

NXT captures all of the best stuff about WWECW, though with slightly less career resurgence runs for main roster guys.

No there's a lot of hate for that segment. and it usually misses the point of hte segment. The idea was this is Sports Entertainment... and here's what we think of Sports Entertainment. *Sandman beats the piss out of it.*

The WWECW Roster was always a great combination of ECW Originals and Newer Talent to showcase themselves when the chance of them being able to on RAW pr Smackdown was very minimal.
THEY GAVE US BALLS MAHONEY!

They wasted it by putting it on Big Zeke... and then never referenced it ever again.

But yeah, Christian should have definitely held it to the end.
