Finally watched the first episode
I liked it.. Very different to the main episodes but I personally like seeing the calm before the storm.
Looking forward to seeing where they are going with this.
Annoyingly though I don't own BT or Sky so going to have to try and find someone who does in order to keep watching.

They left the food at the school.
Its definitely amping up. The VERY last moment of this ep was one of the best so far. All the prior typical "omg whats going on? Why are you acting so strange, its me? don't you know who I am - omg now you're attacking me" stuff was pretty lame to me, but that last moment with the neighbors - THAT was a cool, interesting moment in the world of zombies.

Decent episode again.
My only bug with this is that, this is the modern age where zombies are a huge part of pop culture and the only guy who knows what is going on (at least until the end of the episode) is the fat kid? Sorry, but if a video appeared on youtube of corpses moving in bodybags and killing paramedics, 90% of the populations first thought would be "holy f***, zombies!"
But yeah, I like this series. I liked seeing the calm before the storm and I like seeing the shit slowly starting to hit the fan towards the end. Good series, still not sold on all the characters. The quicker the daughter dies the better and Travis' son seems like an obnoxious dickhead who is really going to grate if he survives. Travis is likeable enough, Captain Junkie is growing on me though. I assume he faked his fit to stop his sister from going to see her boyfriend? At least that's how I took it.

Except Zombies have never existed in the WD World. Kirkman has said the Dead movies were never made

I have a theory that the addict son is actually infected and is slowly losing grip. Way back in season 1 of the Walking Dead, the CDC guy even said everyone was infected.

I always thought that meant what ever caused this thing effected everyone, and the way it effects the people it immediately doesn't kill or turn over into walkers, it at least makes it so even if you're healthy, once you die, you turn into a zombie

I only recently saw episode 1, unfortunately I wasn't a big fan.
If this wasn't a spin off, I probably wouldn't be so harsh, but we know what to expect from this. Waiting 90-ish minutes to get to the point we all expected is not the best way to start. We know the rules of this world, and how zombies operate. There wasn't any great revelation, it just felt like I was watching some pretty uninteresting characters arguing with each other while the main plot was off screen staring at its watch, while waiting to make its dramatic reveal.
I want to give it up to episode 3 to change my mind. I'm hopeful things actually start moving forward now.

Watched the second episode, it's an improvement. But for the love of f***, how did they take the criticism of "So it seems like there's a black guy quota" from the original show, and turn that into "So we're going to introduce three black guys... Then kill them off immediately. In fact, they'll be the first three character deaths."
What the hell, Kirkman?!

I don't know, to me it feels like they are setting him up to kick his habit and become the hero. They have him way too in our face for the zombie turn. Though I think we get him screwing up for a fix a few times, getting some one killed, and finally getting his act together.

Granted, I could buy it for the first couple of seasons where I think they just had T-Dog but from when Tyreese joined they had him, Sasha and Michonne and later added the Reverand and the guy who had his legs eaten, completely forgotten his name now.

This led to T-Dog dying almost immediately after. Once Tyreese was introduced, the prisoner died. Eventually there were two, Bob and Tyreese. Then Gabriel came along and Bob died soon after. Noah joined the group and Tyreese dies the next episode. Morgan is back, so Noah dies. That's five out of seven characters dead, all of the deaths happening once the replacement is introduced, usually within a few episodes. It's not an issue of killing off the characters, but the transparent reason for doing so.

So here's my question. Everyone is dying from a virus. But I don't recall a virus even being mentioned in the original Walking Dead until the beginning of Season 4 when they were at the jail. Were things retconned for FTWD, or is it the same virus and we're supposed to believe it took awhile for it to catch up to people in the main series?

Season one of the Walking Dead when they are in the CDC the scientist told them about it

Alright, I remember the scientist telling them everyone was infected, but over time I thought he just meant that everyone could turn into a zombie, regardless of how they died (up until that point, I think everyone assumed they had to be bit). Or maybe it just slipped my mind since it's been a long time since anyone actually died just from catching a virus. People only die from being shot, stabbed, etc.

The set-up for the zombie coming into the house is super contrived. Why would you forget to close your door when this is all happening!?
