The draft is only a few days away (this Monday at 8 PM EST., when Raw starts). This post is to just go over some information for the league. Some of this stuff is information most of you might know, but I don't want any surprises going in.
The draft will be a "snake" style draft. This means whatever the draft order is (which is determined 30 minutes before the draft randomly by Yahoo!), it will be reversed in even-numbered rounds. If you draft #1 overall for example, then in Round 2 you will draft #14, but then return to pick #1 in round 3 and so on and so forth. And yes, people at the ends of a round will get two consecutive picks, at the cost of having to wait through 27 picks before your next two consecutive picks. You'll be able to join the draft lobby approx. 30 minutes before the draft (Yahoo "prepares" the draft 30 minutes beforehand, and the lobby will be available a few minutes after), and this is when you'll learn the draft order.
You will get 1 minute and 30 seconds when it's your turn to pick. If time runs out, Yahoo will make a pick for you based on a combination of what positions you still need and either Yahoo's player rankings or your own custom rankings (assuming you set that up beforehand). I would recommend you set up your own player rankings just in the name of keeping track of names you like.
If you are unable to attend the draft, Yahoo will draft your team based on your player rankings (if you do not set up your own rankings beforehand, then your time will be picked based on Yahoo's rankings).
football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/427133/1/prerank - This is where you can set your own custom player rankings.
football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/f1/427133/mock_lobby - This is where you can do "mock drafts"; practice drafts so you can see how quickly certain players might go, and how well your rankings and strategy might work in practice before you put it to the test. You can also run a system/browser test to assure your system can run the draft application/window properly. We always have at least one person a year that ends up having system trouble and can't participate in the draft because of it. Unless you factually KNOW your setup can run the draft, I highly recommend you run this test
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message or post in this thread. Thanks!
