Wait, WWE has a designated "TNA Watcher" position? Wonder what the suicide rate is in that job field. It's probably the same intern they make read this message board.

WWE has so much goofy shit in their video vaults from otehr companies that they don't even touch; WCW is a vendetta thing, it's a different matter entirely. TNA never succeeded enough to even justify the production costs of spending the next decade laughing at their failures. Maybe an unflattering documentary about its history and downfall. And on the other hand, WWE has bar none, the best infrastructure to actually use the footage. Their DVD brand is the strongest in wrestling by a mile, and they have the Network, which is going to allow for actually rolling out the entire library over time. Just being able to use the footage to show the highlights of the majority of Samoa Joe's career would probably justify it, and in that they would even have a clear and direct avenue to try and garner interest for TNA's library among the more casual subscribers who might want to see more of him. Nobody else in the industry could ever hope to do the footage justice. Only thing of value is maximizing footage of Jeff Hardy, Angle, and Sting. And if they catch fire in WWE, Joe and AJ. Beyond that, there is nothing of value in TNA. Of course, a major reason for that is TNA never did create an identity for itself. Don't forget Dudleys, they'd use that footage for any documentary DVD/Blu.

So next week's eight day marathon will be the last set of tapings TNA ever does it looks like.

I doubt it, they've featured matches under other names / gimmicks on compilations plenty in the past.

It is a shame that this has happened. They can only blame there selves on this really. The fact is from late 06 to 09 TNA roster was stacked but the problem was how it was managed. That had to do with marketing and how you book the angles. If they really worked on building a high profile match and didn't have so many crash TV stuff and heel/face turns. They could been in much better shape as a company and down a higher rating I believe.
I feel if someone who knew wrestling was running the show and not Dixie. Knew how to make profit when you sign a big name how to make that star power continue to be a star. There issue was most guys they sign just show up and become just a part of a roster.

A Wrestling company with known shitty business practices, and have openly thrown temper tantrums on social media (oh and insulting their network too), that has been thrown off 2 channels in a year, all while it's audience withers away... They should have no problems getting back on tv! And had a seeming arrangement with Spike to ready them for a transition to CMT only to instead go with DA for less money because Dixie wants a reality show, thereby showing they can't be reasoned with and will happily take advantage of you.

Still, while we've known TNA has been run by morons for ages, the whole thing with DA was pretty unfortunate. It's strange it's Discovery that "won" the derby of getting TNA after getting other offers and after one month - Hell a few weeks - they wanted out of the deal. And because of how they acted, TNA has been living on borrowed time ever since and may be altogether screwed by DA's treatment of them.
Like I said, TNA has been acting like jerks for ages but the way DA did things was pretty crummy and disgusting. Cause in a short time they pretty much killed TNA's reputation in the TV World.
I just hope Dixie do not continue being stubborn and sell the company to a network if someone wants to get it.

TNA sold them on the idea of their entire audience being loyal and following them, and said viewers sticking around and watching the other shows on DA and boosting the channel's profile as a whole. None of that happened so the deal just wound up with Discovery throwing tons of money at them for a product that isn't making them a dime because their advertisers want nothing to do with it. Discovery advertised Impact heavily and wanted it to succeed, but it hasn't and there's no reason they should be sporting and try to keep alive a company that's bleeding out as it is. And besides that, TNA probably did just as much damage to themselves when it comes to bartering with networks when they shot down better-paying, more high-profile spots on WGN and CMT because Dixie wanted extra shows when even the main one's been losing viewers for years, and before that when they repeatedly promised to deliver a certain level of ratings to Spike and never came close. Plus there's the whole thing of her insulting the network head.

How sure is anyone that TNA actually did turn down bigger networks? I know what they said publicly when the deal with Destination America was announced, but that always felt like spin to me.

TNA boasted to Destination America that they'd be able to get at least 800K or so for viewership when brought over to them, and that it would raise to what they were getting on Spike over a million. Of course the company neglected and ignored the fact that DA is only on 40 million homes whilst Spike is on 100 million and they can't even get a third of what they had on Spike anymore.

TNA has hours upon hours of material they could dump on the Network and probably pick up some subscribers with, regardless of the actual quality putting "Kurt Angle vs. Sting!" on a match listing for a DVD is going to sell, TNA's video library is probably of a higher picture quality and better run and organized than any of the companies WWE's already bought them from, and it's been said for years that WWE has someone whose job it is to watch TNA and document what goes on in every segment. Poor bastard lol. Also how did Vince reacted after that intern told him about the reverse battle royal and the red bird cage? More importantly, do they fall under the production employee Wellness Program or wrestling talent? Which one has the better drug rehab program?

In all fairness, if Destination America was stupid enough to buy that load from Dixie, with the knowledge of where they were in terms of subscribers compared to Spike and the detailed information about Impacts ratings, they deserve everything they've got coming to them.
