I know we're all confused by Rosa Mendes continued employment but Layla isn't exactly doing anything spectacular as well. Hell she might be the only one not on Total Divas explaining why they keep her on. Maybe I'm just reaching for a topic here

Layla has been on the main roster longer than anyone else, making her first appearance at SummerSlam 2006. If I had my way, she would go into the Hall of Fame next year  |

Some injury/illness issues. She had that brief comeback with Fandango but something made WWE change their mind and send her back home. I think she is in the same spot that Christian and possibly Bryan are in where they can get cleared by the docs but not by WWE.

The difference between Rosa and Layla is that when used, Layla isn't totally worthless.

Plus it seems like she just got engaged so she'll probably be leaving soon. |

She was my favourite Diva from the first I seen her on the Diva Search all the way up until Kaitlyn debuted on NXT.

She's still working live events, but currently on TV they are only using the Divas involved in the current storyline with Team Bellas, Team BAD, and the Paige team. There's also Lana and Summer Rae, but they are featured in a feud outside of the Divas division.

Layla also does an incredible job of PR for the company. A great, long-tenured and friendly ambassador. Not what I'd call "useless" in any degree.

Ricky Ortiz  I remember reading that she was moving towards working as a host on some Network programmes, including the new Diva Search show. I imagine that WWE likes to have her around as a mentor to new Divas. I think locker room leaders have died away today but I could see Layla and/or Lilian playing that role. |

I am guessing the WWE would rather pay the minimum on her contract than to risk a lawsuit and fire her while she is injured. |

No, Layla wrestled at the live event I was at last week in a tag match with Emma vs Alicia and Cameron, so it's not like they won't let her wrestle. Just not on TV, I guess. She's also had matches on Main Event and Superstars the last few months. It's rare, but it happens.
