After making the Daivari thread and remembering he debuted as Khosrow, for all the WWE trivia fans out there, who was the first wrestler to debut and then shortly his first name was dropped?
Was it actually Daivari?

Goldberg in WCW.
There has to be one before that though.

Goldberg in WCW. There has to be one before that though. I'm sure they still called him Bill at least ONCE in WCW and I'm sure they did in WWE. You've never heard "Antonio" again on WWE TV for example. NEVER.

The Undertaker was briefly known as Kane the Undertaker.

You've never heard "Antonio" again on WWE TV for example. NEVER. It used be kind of common when a wrestler whose ringname was only his last name, they would call him by his first name sometimes. Like it was pretty common for someone to call Batista Dave

I remember they tried to change Bobby Lashley into just "Lashley" for about a month, then went back.

When Crush re-debuted around 1992 as a babyface, didn't they first call him Kona Crush before dropping the "Kona"? I'm pretty sure I heard him being referred to as Kona Crush several times late 1992-early 1993.

The Undertaker was briefly known as Kane the Undertaker. But that was after first debuting as just The Undertaker, so I don't think that counts. I do recall Canadian Earthquake becoming just Earthquake during the middle of the episode of Prime Time Wrestling he had his debut match on in 1989.

Big Bossman
Think they dropped the "Big" around 2001/2

Ultimate Warrior becoming Warrior (hey, technically it was name by that point)
Plenty of last names being dropped:
Crusher Liskowski pretty much dropped the Liskowski part once the '70s and '80s approached and just went by The Crusher.
Farooq Asaad becoming Farooq
Sherri Martel becoming Sherri (or Sensational Sherri, if you prefer)
Tugboat Thomas becoming Tugboat

Batista had the Goldberg situation going where I don't think he was ever billed as Dave, but they often called him that in a casual manner on the show.

Not the first (thought of "The Crusher" and Hercules as two of the earliest in regards to the original post) but Medusa Miceli is another one this happened to before some of the names I've seen appear in the thread so far.
EDIT: Then again, you asked about first names being dropped, not last. So I'm off topic. My fault.

When the Missing Link gimmick first debuted, he was Max the Missing Link. The "Max" would be dropped very shortly after.
Sho Funaki becoming Funaki
Would have to double-check, but I think while he was paired up with Mr. Fuji, Professor Toru Tanaka dropped the "Toru" part.
Chris Kanyon lost the "Chris" for extended periods of time. Pretty sure Perry Saturn did too.
At least a few periods where the Nasty Boys were just Knobbs and Saggs, no first names.
Not entirely in-category due to nature of their names, but Big Van Vader and 2 Cold Scorpio becoming Vader and Scorpio at times. Also John Bradshaw becoming Bradshaw for a long while before morphing into JBL.
Yoshihiro Tajiri becoming just Tajiri.

Not sure if this counts but Andre the Giant was called Andre Roussimoff at one point. I remember people simply calling him Andre without "The Giant" on the end of it. Technically "The Giant" was a nickname anyway.
Last time I remember hearing him called Andre Roussimoff was I think in AWA.

I had actually completely forgotten JBL's original WWE name was "Justin Hawk Bradshaw".
