What will hogans legacy be like when he nears the end of his life? Will he be remembered as a pos for the comments he made? Or will he be remembrred as a wrestling great? I'm sure wwe will atleast mention Him eventually, even if he doesn't come back

As one of the greatest WWF Champions ever. I'm not saying his recent comments aren't deplorable because they are but when you look at the history of some of the other greats, some of the stuff they have done is pretty bad too.

his name is synonymous with wrestling , as much Wayne Gretsky is to hockey , or Michael Jordan is to basketball. This incident will be forgotten within a year

He's the most mainstream name the business has ever seen. There's no denying in the fact that if not for Hogan, pro wrestling wouldn't be where it is today. However, one can argue that his racist comments have forever tarnished his legacy. With time, people will forgive him but it might take a while. I don't know how far WWE will hold the grudge though.

I'm sure wwe will atleast mention Him eventually, even if he doesn't come back I think he'll be remembered for both. Basically, Hogan is wrestling's Wagner.

I don't want to turn this into another "which crime is worse" discussion but Austin is still considered one of the greatest ever, even though he beat up his wife. Flair is considered one of the greatest ever, despite the Road Rage incident (I don't know what happened with that. He was charged with assault right?). As I said before, this doesn't excuse Hogan (or any other high-profile name) but it'll be a small footnote.

Honestly, I'm not even really following this whole Hogan scandal
So to me he is still that guy that body slammed Andre the Giant, had that passable match with Ultimate Warrior and all other things.
No I am not saying what he has done recently is in anyway shape or form acceptable, but it doesn't really affect me personally.

One of the all time greats. A man who helped make professional wrestling what it is today, and without him, might not even be here. Though Terry Bollea wasn't a great man, Hulk Hogan is one of the all time greats and pretty much always will be.

I mean, you ask the average schmoe "you remember Hulk Hogan?" and they get all wobbly. Their eyes'll glaze over and they'll rattle off all these moments that WWE have milked via highlight reels this ages. It's a sad fact, but his presence in the 80s was so entwined in the zeitgeist that he's considered fabric to so many childhood memories, like bad NES games and whatnot. It will exist independent of whatever depressing materials arise as to his personal life.
We, however, the ardent wrasslin' followers, will never forget.

In other threads, I've likened him to Ty Cobb: the fact that he was a racist doesn't take away from the fact that he's one of the greatest of all time, but one of the greatest of all time has the stink of being a racist associated with him.

On the list of things fans forgive athletes, musicians, and other celebrities for, "old racist rant" doesn't even make the top ten.
Even if Hogan's career is over, his legacy is secure.

For me he will be the guy who politic'd his way through WCW and TNA. And he's a racist on top of that.

To me he'll always be the guy that lost to The Genius on Saturday Night's Main Event.
He was also the guy that made me a wrestling fan. And for that I can not forgive him.

One of the, if not the, greatest wrestlers and entertainers of all time and he should (and will) be remembered as such.
He is also human and as a human he is also flawed. Don't know many that aren't and there are many wrestlers, some respected, that have done far worse than he has.
In the end I believe that Hulk Hogan the character should be remembered more than the flawed person of Terry Bollea.

Chris Brown beat the shit out of a woman and even the woman in question forgave him. And he called Frank Ocean the f-word and assaulted him. None of this has stopped him being one of the biggest pop stars on Earth, collaborating with a number of otherwise reasonably enlightened musicians. People still listen to Phil Spector records. Austin is still worshipped. Tyson is in the Hall of Fame.
Hogan's legacy is intact, because his being a racist doesn't change the fact that he is synonymous with wrestling and changed the face of it. WWE has always had an ambivalent relationship with its own history and when Hogan bites the big one (which will be sooner rather than later given that he's an 80s guy and already getting up there) he will once again be deified, because Hulk Hogan the character is not Terry Bollea the racist. And frankly, once he's dead, there will be zero guilt involved because you're not endorsing his behaviour any more or making any money for him.
