He will be remembered as the guy that killed WCW. Russo didn't help. But yeah.

Hulk Hogan's comments were vile, and there is no defending that, but I still think he will be remembered as one of the greats in the wrestling business. Don't get me wrong, it sucks that he's a racist, but if he makes an effort to make amends, I can see people forgiving him, even if they don't forget.

A very shitty human being (the racism, the deplorable comments he made in the wake of his son's car crash, the politics and constant leeching off of the business) who's also sadly one of the biggest icons in wrestling history, if not the biggest.

If Pat Patterson could return after the early 90ies sex scandal where he supposedly abused co-workers... so could Hulk Hogan. Give it 10 years, a black wwe champ might reduce that by 5 years.

The guy who almost played for Metallica. The guy who smelled "dookie" in No Holds Barred.

The charges against Patterson were dropped while what Hogan said will remain a matter of public record, a black mark against him like Mel Gibson's antisemitic tirade. He'll be back in less than 5 years but it will be after the dust settles on the Gawker trial and lot of work to rehabilitate his image.

In other threads, I've likened him to Ty Cobb: the fact that he was a racist doesn't take away from the fact that he's one of the greatest of all time, but one of the greatest of all time has the stink of being a racist associated with him. FYI, it was later proven that Cobb wasn't racist. That whole thing was part of a smear campaign by AL Stump. But Cobb helped establish scholarship programsfor black students in Georgia, among other things
