Rest with the angels Hot Rod. We will miss you.
One of the best heels ever in the business. First Dusty and now Roddy, I can't believe it.

At such a young age, too. I hope he enjoyed his life, as we enjoy the memories of him.

I was just listening to his podcasts this morning...
Stunned.
Seems 2015 is calling time on the Rock'N'Wrestling era.

Piper is in the same boat as Dusty for me in the sense that he was well before my time but it's still kinda obvious how much he influenced the business when you look at his work and compare it to others. RIP Roddy Piper.

If I wasn't crying I'd laugh at the timing. I just started listening to Jim Cornette's podcast he did about Dusty's passing and was feeling depressed about it. I logged on Facebook and saw a post about Piper and started sobbing. I feel terrible, a couple days ago in the Jake vs Piper thread I posted about Piper being overrated. But he was one of my first childhood heroes and this news is horrible. I pray that whatever exists beyond this life brings Piper the peace that seemed to often elude him here. One thing you could never question about Piper was his love for his family, his fans, and the sport that we all love. RIP Hot Rod.

f***.. Are there any major stars from that era let now, except Hogan? Snuka and Flair would be the big ones. I'm sure there are others. Heenan

First of all, I hate to start my post this way, but just to show you how disgusting wikipedia really is, it says that Roddy Piper was "murdered by Chris Benoit".
I was just thinking about Roddy Piper today, about how low-key he seemed to live up in the mountains of Oregon, and how similarly that I would like to live.
I'll say this, in recent years, my respect for Roddy Piper has grown leaps and bounds. For some reason, I always got the impression that Roddy had been suffering from some very dark mental demons, however, he seemed to have had enough real character integrity, that he seemed like a really great human being that I would look up to. Everything from saying that he was going to kick cancer's ass, and then actually doing it, to living an abundant but moderate and low key life up in the mountains, to hearing some of his statements about the psychology of wrestling, to hearing him publically discuss some of his geo-political viewpoints that take a lot of balls for a man of his fame to mention, and his downright realness when he had something to say. I've always gotten the feeling that when Roddy Piper is going to give you constructive criticism, or just has something to say, it was going to be true constructive criticism, and/or a statement that he truly means while being well thought-out, not one of those so-called real-talk moments where you're really just venting occasionally honest feelings but not things that have a whole lot of substance in reality.
If I wanted to be trained by two people as a pro wrestler, I'd wanted for it to be Roddy Piper and Al Snow.
Also, Roddy Piper was my mother's favorite wrestler.
I'm shocked. RIP Hot Rod, you will be missed, and you, as well as your family, will be in my prayers.
