Perhaps the WWE testing the waters on possibly expanding the length of certain PPV events? Considering the often poor booking toward three hour shows, the concept of another hour is just horrible.

I remember everyone here thought that when they expanded Raw to 3 hours, we would actually get longer matches, instead of extra recaps, commercials, movie trailers, and recaps of the recaps.
So yeah. Expecting the same thing.

Four hours for WrestleMania and SummerSlam is fine, especially since they've been wanting to build up SummerSlam as a sort-of second WrestleMania now. I'd be fine with the Royal Rumble going four hours as well, but only if they had the roster depth to manage that without having a bunch of guys work two matches.
But ALL the PPVs? Nah.

I think shows shouldn't have time limits, but I think once PPV as a system dies, all shows will last whenever.

Expecting the same thing. Except we are getting longer matches. Two seperate diva matches had a commercial break within the match. Some matches have 2 commercial breaks in them or even 3 now.

I kinda feel they're attaching the preshow to this and calling it 4 hours. I don't think Summerslam will actually start at 7. Will be a couple of matches and video packages with the real thing starting at 8.

They want Summerslam to be a Wrestlemania level event that props up the Network for a quarter and this is another step in getting there in their minds. That is why they are also running a Takeover special with it and doing a few panel shows (I think that is what they dropped Axxess for).

Well, everybody, I hope you all enjoy the 15 minute Brock/Undertaker match plus 3 hours and 45 minutes of commercials. I mean, surely if this were the second biggest show o of the year. they would have announced more matches for it and hyped them up by now, right?
Sorry for the sarcasm but this is the second biggest PPV of the year, WWE. Treat it as such.

Four hour WrestleManias and SummerSlams? I like it.
Every PPV though? Hell no.

WWE seem intent on over-saturating their audience at a time when ratings are down overall. Makes sense to me.

WWE should concentrate on making their actual PPV's worth the money before the come up with the extra hour.
And as for longer matches, thats fine when Cesaro, Owens, Ambrose, Rusev and The New Day are involved, but for the majority of the roster, considering just how repetitive and boring the actual matches are, they will be worse with an extra 2 or 3 minutes that are added on.

They need some way of distinguishing the PPVs from Raw other than 'no commercials!' Why pay for three hours of a show when you get that every week?
I mean obviously there are a million more logical answers to that than lengthening a show, but you know.
It could, maybe, be a back door into getting the big four to be four hour shows and the other shows to be two hour 'specials' like the KOTR show.

Will be a couple of matches and video packages with the real thing starting at 8. Nope. The kickoff show starts at 6 PM and the PPV starts at 7. Straight from the horse's mouth, meaning WWE: www.wwe.com/shows/summerslam/2015/summerslam-just-got-bigger-27718383

This is a really slippery slope they could get on by diluting Mania, but as we are well aware they are thinking bout Wall Street before long term ramifications of decisions like this.

Hopefully, this means future Summerslams will be held in football/baseball stadiums.

May as well put SummerSlam in 3 arenas, because every year is getting a WrestleMania 2.

Considering the quality of the writing staff, hopefully a one-time only experiment.

Hopefully, this means future Summerslams will be held in football/baseball stadiums. This should be Summerslam's gimmick, being held in outdoor stadiums, would give it a much more summery feel, and seperate it from looking like every B-PPV.
