Yeah, fans stabbing wrestlers. The good old days, huh? Personally I don't want to be stabbed, but when I go to the ring, if I can piss someone off enough to try and stab me, I did a good job. Except Cena is the super face and Rollins the main heel so if A) Fans cheer because Cena got hurt then he's not doing a good job B) Fans cheer Rollins for hurting Cena he's not doing a good job either.

Don't even think of Cena in those terms. You think WWE doesn't know and acknowledge how hated he is? It's his main draw at this point, being the "polarizing top guy". Hell, that's going to be his legacy when he retires. That's why there will be no wake-up call for WWE. There will be no heel turn. There will be no character tweaking. His career is defined by how much many fans can't stand him. I mean, come on. If he retired tomorrow, what else would we have to say about him? Nobody was checking for his promos or spouting his catchphrases. He has no moments in his career like "Rock: This Is Your Life" or Austin's beer bash. So to say Cena's "not doing his job" at this point just isn't true. This is exactly what they want from him. Now, is all that a good idea? That's a different story...

I thought it was hilarious, and Cena probably did too given the way he reacts to this stuff

Rollins was probably hoping they would just stop as in Vince's world, that reaction justifies giving Cena the title.

B) Fans cheer Rollins for hurting Cena he's not doing a good job either. To be fair, with the exception of Nexus and JBL...EVERYONE gets cheered over Cena.

Was it distasteful? Yeah. But it says something when the top heel is cheered for injuring the top babyface...just saying.
I say that as a big Cena fan too.

It's interesting because if Rollins had broken Daniel Bryan's nose and then come out and cut the same sort of promo....lets just say he would have received an entirely different reaction. Speaks volumes when Cena is the face and people cheer the fact he is injured.

They hate Cena. That's WWE fault. They've created that hostility.

On one hand, I feel bad for Cena since he does his all and he's injured and the crowd is cheering Rollins. On another hand, I feel the WWE did it themselves given Cena's whole character.

He only has a broken nose.
With the reaction to the chant, you'd think he suffered a stroke or something.

Anyone else find this crowd chant just a little bit distasteful? Celebrating that a guy was actually, legitimately injured and literally disfigured in the ring? Hell, if we did that in here we'd be banned. Not cool, live crowd. Not cool. Yeah, that was really below the belt. Crap on the wrestling skills of Cena. Chant "John Cena Sucks!" all you want. But DO NOT chant that. And I don't think Colby Lopez liked those chants either. Just want to point this out: It always bugs me when people use wrestler's real names, unless that's how they're presented. CM Punk? Sure. Phil Brooks? Not my cup of tea. As for the chants, I'll echo everyone's statements. It's more on the booking of Cena than anything else, and the top heel getting cheered for injuring the top face should be a wake up call, though it probably won't.

Cena has become so unbearable that people want him to get hurt or anything that could prevent him from stealing the spotlight and making young guys tap out like cupcakes.

I mean, it was savagery personified but at the same time, wrestling and other combat sports attract those kind of fans. Kinda like how everybody loses their shit when Ronda Rousey murks somebody. Jesus Christ autocorrect, I use murk too much for you to change it like 10 times. I get what you mean, but wrestling isn't supposed to get people REALLY hurt

His character was heeling it up and staying in character, but the person was probably really uncomfortable with that.

I don't really see a problem with it.
The WWE's gone as far as to make an entire angle out of it, and give Seth Rollins his own shirt bringing attention to it. So considering that they know full well that Cena isn't the most well liked superstar on the roster, they had to have known the kinds of reactions that Rollins was going to get. So I don't see why we should be getting all worked up by the fans reacting exactly how WWE wanted them to.

Fundamentally WWE don't care what the fans cheer. It's fine if fans hate Cena, as long as they are paying for a ticket to do so.
