Updating a previous item, 49ers OLB Aldon Smith was arrested on DUI, hit-and-run and vandalism charges Thursday night in Santa Clara County. Another follow-up: Aldon Smith has been released by the 49ers.

Saw an article that stated the Chicago Bears would be the worst team in the NFL this season. Apparently, this article forgot these teams existed: Jacksonville Jaguars Oakland Raiders Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cleveland Browns Washington Redskins I think that about covers it. Niners are a safe bet to be a worse team, too. A weakened team that will have six games with the NFC West. It has all the makings of an ugly season. Oh, this is going to be a long season. Get Torrey Smith as a deep threat, and Reggie Bush to catch balls out of the backfield? Freaking awesome! Harbaugh leaves, Crabtree leaves, Iupati leaves, half the defense retires, and Aldon Smith apparently has another DUI with a hit and run which has rightfully resulted in his release? Son of a f***!

Aldon Smith cut... Holy sxxx the Niners are burning straight to the ground. This season is going to be awful.
Wonder who's going to give Aldon his inevitable 32nf chance? I'll go with the Seahawks because that's where it will be most painful to watch him wreak havoc on QBs. Or maybe the Raiders.

This is not a situation where they got rid of him so they could rebuild, this was a situation of "He has messed up too many times and has destroyed our trust too many times that we can no longer keep him".

Yeah, I know... He gave the team no other choice. It's just painful because you know he's going to get more chances from other teams and when he's in a state to get on the field he's still a difference maker. I just hope it isn't with the Seahawks or the Raiders. It's amazing how fast a team can go from 3 straight NFC Championship Games and 1 Super Bowl berth straight into the gutter. 4-12 would probably be generous at this point.

I don't think I've ever seen such a good, solid team just break down like that in the span of a year. It was like, if there was anything that could go wrong, it did. All of this in a division where mistakes are especially punishing and when the team was still a playoff-caliber outfit. I feel bad for the fans who have to put up with the Niners' front office's missteps.

Coach Rex Ryan told PFT Live on Friday that the Bills considered signing free agent Michael Vick, but believed his odds of success were slim in Buffalo's bad weather.

Seems like a good dude, it's too bad that he'll likely get saddled with a terrible team for a few seasons before they fire him and hire a name coach and use all of the high draft picks to reload.

So great to see Charles Haley finally get his due and make the Hall. Now when does Roger Craig get his due and get his rightful spot in the Hall?
