I like the irony that the PC Bro's greatest weakness was someone taking everything he said out of context.

Amazing twist once again. Sucks we have to wait an extra week just to see where this is all leading.

Yeah, I'm still not feeling this season at all. There's been some really funny gags, and the whole ad plot introduced tonight is actually pretty interesting, but it's all buried under waaay too much anti-PC circle-jerking for my tastes.

The show has LIFE! to it, again, for the first time in like a decade, but it's thornier than ever in terms of ideology/politics. EDIT: Actually, there might be some argument as to "than ever", Ms. Garrison was really vile. But those rape jokes tonight... hoo boy.

I actually thought Season 17 was their best overall season in quite some time; there were maybe one or two dud episodes, but most of them were quite good, and the Black Friday trilogy in particular is some of the best stuff the show's ever done. Last season was also pretty good though the finale was a total wet fart. This season hasn't been unwatchable but, as you said, it's really thorny in terms of ideology, and the show being so heavily in-your-face about it for the entire goddamn season has just been a real turn-off. I like satirical South Park but not for ten straight episodes (well, eight so far).

It really did like... change my perceptions of what was possible on television. I stopped watching week to week around 2006, and I hadn't seen an episode since 2011 when I watched the first episode of this season randomly and I was like, holy f***, THEY CARE AGAIN for some reason. I think this season has a vitality to it absent since they decommunicated Chef. I went back last week and watched the last 3 years worth of South Park, and I felt nothing. If nothing else, at the very least, I truly believe Trey and Matt care about what they're doing for the first time in a long, long while.

I've been watching since the premiere as well but I never stopped - I could just be burnt out on the show after watching it for so long. Or just my views have changed, probably. I agree that Matt and Trey certainly aren't coasting on their reputations, and for that I give them all the credit in the world. This is a remarkable amount of effort put into a show that's been on the air for 18 years.

This is a remarkable amount of effort put into a show that's been on the air for 18 years. I think that's what fascinates me, effort. This doesn't feel like autopilot, which is what led to my complete disinterest. I caught up with 2006-2008 and 2009-2011 in separate spurts and though there were high-points (You're Getting Old), as a whole it felt lifeless. This season does not. And even across ideologies, City Part of Town is really f***ing great television. And I guess, to get back to effort, there's no reason or incentive. There's no reason for them to try again, now. And they are.

This season so far pretty much nail it on the head on what wrong with PC/SJW. Love the cliffhanger ending too.

Okay... okay, theories. {Spoiler}First off, PC Principal/Principle is not a bad guy. Is he an aggressive douche? Sure. But he's legitimately got good intentions and is genuinely trying to do what he thinks is the right thing. Further, I think he has similar abilities to Jimmy, hence why he's so quick to yell at Leslie to shut up.
Oh, and this is all one big ad for the next game, Fractured But Whole.
