This week's episode is a repeat, Classic SNL is preempted for Hockey, in lure of recent events, they should air season 6 episode from 2/21/81, the episode hosted by Charlene Tilton, which had the infomus Charle Rocket f bomb. If I ran NBC I would air that episode this weekend.

I just watched the Chris Rock/Prince episode a few days ago on Comedy Central. They could run that one due to recent events. It was Nov. 1st, 2014.

I just watched the Chris Rock/Prince episode a few days ago on Comedy Central. They could run that one due to recent events. It was Nov. 1st, 2014. Yeah but the one from 2/21/81 has historic value, that is his very first truly live tv performance. The only shows he appeared on before that was Midnight Special and American Bandstand, which he had to lip synch with pre recordered music from his album, SNL was the first show that allowed him to play for real. Also it is oldest live preformance that excits period, that episode aired on 2/21/81, the oldest Prince live shows that excites is 3/19/81 from the Ritz, so his SNL appearance pre dates that. Not to mention the first Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood skit and it is cool to think in 81, 3 years that episode would 2 of the arugably the top 5 biggest stars in the world at the time in Prince and Eddie Murphy back when they were unknows. Funny thing if you watch the good nights, in typical Prince fashion he is no where to be seen, though members of his band are there, at the very end you see Dr. Fink having a conversion of a member of Todd Rundgren's band.

Going through all those performances and showing the 40th anniversary after party footage was amazing. Such an amazing talent we lost this week. Prince is the kind of artist you'd watch perform for days on end.
I'm just going to pretend that last half hour didn't happen.

For those who just watched the SNL Prince special, yes, in the entire four decades of the show Prince only had five on-air performances (two from the 2006 Steve Martin episode, one in 1980, one on the 15th anniversary, and one extended jam on the Chris Rock 2014 episode). Tonight we saw 4 of the 11 "Prince Show" sketches. What we didn't see (other than the remaining 7 "Prince Shows") were the following three sketches: 1) "I Am the World" (1985) Show-opening skit with Billy Crystal as Prince and Hulk Hogan & Mr. T as his bodyguards - www.dailymotion.com/video/x6t4t5_billy-crystal-hulk-hogan-mr-t_fun2) "Backstage: Cold Open" (1985) Billy Crystal as Prince returns to see Tina Turner and figure out why she isn't hosting - www.hulu.com/watch/2739883) "Extreme Hunting" (1999) Chris Kattan as Prince on Ted Nugent's hunting show. Couldn't find video for this one.
