The ultimate vindication here is that women like Charlotte, Sasha, et al..., are all making more money than Greg ever made, and will also probably never be reduced to wrestling for gas money and a six-pack in the middle of Mudlick, KY, so.....I'm gonna go ahead and give the win here to the ladies. He got screwed then because other guys who headlined shows with Hogan and as Intercontinental champion in the '80s just like Valentine did were making $10,000-$20,000 per week.

This is not uncommon. He grew up in a different time, as well as his father was even more old-school to the point where he refused to do moves off the ropes because it didn't look realistic, "I wouldn't bounce off something to get momentum for a punch in real life."
Right now, it's definitely cringeworthy to hear him say things like this, as the climate has definitely changed. I highly doubt he sits at home, watching NXT with a Balor Club shirt on, waiting on his Chikara DVDs to arrive, and planning a trip to see ROH. While he still gets booked on small shows and conventions, his view on wrestling is stuck from the time when he was actually in the business and was at his most profitable. Others aren't so stuck in their ways because they have stayed in the business in one aspect or another, so they've had to remain current and even ahead of the curve. A guy like Valentine will sit there and say, "I made X amount of dollars in 1983 and significantly less as time went on... so the correct way to do business is how it was done in 1983."
Granted, it's nothing you want exposed online... he now gets to be a punching bag and gets to join the ranks of Destrucity-"Queering Don't Work"-era Ultimate Warrior, Billy Jack Haynes, and Honky Tonk Man as "Crazy, Bitter, Old Greg Valentine."

This is interesting to me considering his haircut made him look like a 40 year old woman.

Gee,that is some high quality sexism,At least in the top 5 I ever saw .Also, barefoot? Why even barefoot?first time i saw someone say woman should be barefoot "Barefoot and pregnant" is...I'm actually honestly most surprised to hear that out of the whole rant, mostly because I'm pretty sure I've never heard someone non-ironically use "barefoot and pregnant" in reference to a woman. It's like something a caricature of a sexist would say. It's why I'm pretty sure he going at least a lil tongue in cheek with it.

But so far, they are still a novelty act until one of them really show me something. Show me something that the men cannot do for example. Minnesota (International) Home Wrecking Crew. Not only a great female heel stable but a great heel stable in general. All 3 were great in-ring workers and all 3 had a ton of charisma. Sorry, but men could not pull off that gimmick as it was 100% female. Also, Lacey was an absolutely awesome worker in every aspect. Pick up Shimmer, more than a novelty act and Shimmer has had some great matches and presents the women as actual athletes and not just eye candy. And yet they can't draw more then 100 people to their shows.

I hope that he was being tongue-in-cheek with some of that, because it went waaaaay over the line. Even if he was joking around with the "barefoot in the kitchen" stuff, it's still a mindlessly simplistic thing to say: "women haven't drawn while I've been around, so they'll never draw" (never mind women's MMA drawing plenty well). How about stopping to ask why women haven't drawn? Couldn't it have a lot to do with an industry that enabled various promoters and people like Moolah to hold down excellent female wrestlers and only present poorer workers? Could it have to do with a lack of good booking, and WWE spending most of the 1990s-2000s (outside of the past few years) hiring mostly fitness models instead of wrestlers? Could it have to do with those factors training audiences to not take women's wrestling seriously, thus shaping the industry in such a way that it's a less attractive option for female athletes to gravitate toward in the first place? If we don't use history as our answer, then the only other answer available is that women have some weird natural, genetic, biological, etc. thing that make them incapable of drawing money in combat sports, and that's utter nonsense, as shown by people like Rousey and by organizations like some of the joshi companies in Japan over the years. Pulling the "they need to get out because they'll never be any good" card is pure laziness, and an excuse to avoid confronting screwed up realities that the wrestling industry has built up around itself. What does that have to do with them being a really good stable?

And yet they can't draw more then 100 people to their shows. Doesn't change the fact that they were a tremendous stable. They were also very instrumental in getting Shimmer off of the ground and it is amazing that an all-female wrestling promotion has lasted as long as they have. Considering the "female" promotions before them were limited to things like GLOW they had a pretty uphill battle to start with. With that said they performed just as good as, if not better, than many men in the industry.

Pretty sure last footage I saw of him and I'm not saying it's current, but he's doing backyard wrestling shows. Actual backyard wrestling shows, in actual backyards.

Greg Valentine looks like that Aunt who always sits at the kitchen table with her can of Diet Coke (or generic brand Diet Cola) who says she shouldn't be eating this cake because of "the diabetes" while yelling at your younger cousins to stop fighting in the living room

The "barefoot" thing because it's so over the top makes me think he's f***ing around, but I'm not sure. I hear that thrown out a lot when making fun of that mentality and honestly have never heard of a man who "demands" a woman to actually not wear shoes. It's just so over the top ridiculous seeming.
Am I ignorant to some barefoot misogyny thing that's not ironic?

One thing women's wrestling can do better than men's is the hair vs. hair match stipulation, especially in joshi.

SHIMMER 53 drew close to 1,500. That's a bit more over 100.
