Here's the thing. People don't like the Diva's division. It's centered around the Bellas, nobody has any character, and they're always having these pointless multi-woman matches. So they call up the acclaimed NXT wrestlers for a Hashtag Revolution...and it's centered around the Bellas, nobody has any character, and THE WHOLE DEAL is pointless multi-woman matches. Exactly. I hate to break it to some people around here, but a really big draw of this revolution was the idea of the superior NXT girls changing the match styles and essentially replacing the main roster girls. I like a few main roster divas, but the reality is that even my favorites are in that "should be replaced" bunch (namely Naomi)

Last Nights match was flat, crowd died the moment Team Bad got eliminated, it felt like an eternity how Paige was being beat down.
The feud should be NXT Women vs Divas, a bit similar to AJ vs Total Divas with the exception of not being heavily one sided imo.

I'm actually starting to get bored with the constant doomsayer threads every time there is an off night, and I say that as the guy who made the first negative thread after they were called up.
Honestly, sometimes it feels like some people, at least subconsciously, want this to fail so they can have something to complain about.

This is what we'll keep getting as long as the Divas work for men whose opinions on females belong at a porno convention.

24 hours before, there was a woman's match that completely rocked the house. It stole the show, and one of the competitors was in the match last night. There was an audible "We Want Sasha" chant, the crowd was hyped because they figured there was a good chance the match would be good since they had such an amazing match the night before, where Vince, Dunn, and everyone available could work on it. Hell, I'm sure Sara Del Rey was there and could've worked as an agent on the match as well. People had, justifiably, high hopes. However, Sasha gets 30 seconds and he team is eliminated. The finish came after a suplex and people's reaction was, "Is that Becky's finisher?" then the three count, "Oh, I guess it is." No reaction other than "at least the Bellas didn't win" pop.
It's hard not to give up on something like this if it doesn't seem like the people in charge have any idea how this works. As I've said before, the only way to save it at this point is shuttle everyone but Charlotte back to NXT, have her feud with Nikki over the title.... win it, then have Sasha come back and feud with Charlotte, work their magic for a few months... then introduce Becky back, then bring Bayley aboard, all the while sending everyone not featured back to the performance center to get up to the NXT girls level. If they can do so, bring them back and put on some awesome matches, prove us all wrong about their talent. If they don't have the ability, give them a microphone to be an interviewer, give them a wrestler to be a valet for, or send them home. You're only as strong as your weakest link, and if you have to be harsh at this point in time... either step up or step aside. I honestly think the Bellas COULD be good, just that they're fine with being good enough, and in their defense, they've had absolutely zero incentive to improve more than they've had to until now. But you need a heavy hand with the entire division.
Failing that, just shrug.. say the main roster doesn't want to improve and keep wrestlers where wrestling is.

Don't get me wrong, by no means do I want them giving up. I'm still holding a candle for Paige after 18 months of crawling and licking and losing to Nikki. Just...kick things up a notch please? Maybe have Sara Del Rey help out putting matches together on the main roster too?

Here's a way to get out of this mess that will both appeal to wrestling diehards and the "throw it at wall and see if it sticks" inclined WWE creative team: Have a repeat of the nine diva match on RAW. However, mid-match have the teams disintegrate and have all nine fight amongst each other, regardless of previous team affiliation. Steph comes out with a mic, demands they stop fighting, question the divas and the audience about who they think is the best, and declares a eight woman tournament to see who "really is sparking this revolution", with the winner taking on Nikki at NOC. Opening Round Matches: Sasha vs Tamina Brie vs Becky Naomi vs Charlotte Paige vs Alicia Didn't Steph sort of imply pre-show that the winner of last night's match would get a title shot somehow? Maybe I read too much into the "winners get the spoils comment." I could definitely get into a 8-woman tourney for a title shot though. Anything different.

I think it's more sad that people actually thought this whole thing was anything more than window dressing by the WWE. Look at the way they debuted on the main roster. They had Stephanie tower over everyone and then stick each woman on teams as if they are kids in gym class, and that was supposed to accomplish something? They are still the cool down match on PPV based on last night. Nothing has changed except they get to name drop Stephanie multiple times during the night as some sort of feminist super Mom because that's the bubble she lives in. The women are still as interchangeable as ever. I did think they could have put the match before Rollins v Cena, but the shenanigans from that and Bork v Taker sort of needed a regular finish.

It deserves to be the piss break at this point. When they start booking them to mean something (ala NXT), then it would be a much more high profile match, but "Stephanie picks teams and they wrestle for 10 minutes because feminism" is going to result in boredom because the fans have no reason to care. The Bella's are definitely a problem as they can't be counted on to work like the others, but the team format they have going is very counterproductive. If they booked the men like that, it would result in the same apathy.

No wonder this Divas Revolution is bad. Just caught onto this. Nikki Bella is the sun in which the Divas Revolution...revolves around.

What I'd like to know is what agent helped them put this match together? This should've been move after move of the ladies hitting their spots and showing what they can do. Instead we got neverending heat segments like this was an 80's Memphis tag match. I noticed this too. Sasha and Bayley probably did one resthold fairly early in their match and that was it. The rest was devoted to big spots, character work, and cool submissions. In contrast, the Summerslam match was one giant resthold on Becky and then later to Paige, broken up briefly by some generic dives to the outside. Who the f*** is gonna pop for that? The biggest problem in the divas revolution might not even be the shoddy storyline. It's that even during the supposedly big moments where fans expect something different, the layout of a match is still as basic as it ever was. Just longer.

Let me guess... One bad promo segment and we're done here, right? Well, a bad promo segment and an awful match on top of weeks of continuously dwindling crowd reactions, nonexistent storytelling, and mediocre-at-best wrestling... Let's just wait and see.

I do think the lack of mic skills is a major issue. You have to at least be passable on the mic and most of these ladies just aren't.

Is it safe to say the revolution has failed? You can't throw some gems into a dung heap and expect it to shine. You need to get rid of the dung first and by keeping The Bellas, Alicia, Tamina etc around WWE haven't done that.
It doesn't take a genius to realize the revolution should have been the NXT girls, Paige and possibly Emma having a series of singles and tag matches with each other to show what they can do.
Instead we're getting this load of bollocks. The piss poor promo skills dont help, but if that's the case keep promo time to a minimum and prerecorded.

I don't buy into this idea that we have to like the bad segments we're being given or else we're just never happy and ought to go back to the way things used to be. The crowd tonight was definitely not helpful in the goddamn least, but it needs to be put across clear to WWE that what they've done isn't good enough. WWE isn't putting any effort into this revolution, and the onus isn't on us to just eat shit and like it. This needs to be criticized, and it needs to rejected in a way that is constructive and makes it clear that we want more. Bayley/Sasha was f***ing proof that people can be very happy with women's wrestling and have been for the longest time, so the doomsaying crap I've seen thrown around implying that we're just never happy needs to be put down, or else WWE wins; the only thing they're giving the women is more time, and to say that it's good enough is to let them get off easy and not actually examine the problems with how they're presenting women.

These multi woman tag matches are killing this thing and they know it...on top of the bellas not being able to keep up. And of course it doesn't help that they are given such crap scripted promos that not even ric flair could make work. That segmant absolutely made me gringe. I see the 5 stAR classic sat night and this utter garbage tonight and I just want to cry...for an entirely different reason than I did saturday.
