That's just nitpicking. It's still a horrible reason to keep someone around. How would you feel if someone told you that one of the main reasons you were hired at your work was because you're mediocre enough to make the good employees look fantastic? My feelings would be hurt, but wrestling don't work like that. And in the current era where anyone who whose any good has a vocal following who complains whenever they aren't booked well, "mediocre" wrestlers are a commodity, If Sasha Banks loses a match to Nikki Bella, people will commit mass suicide. If Eva Marie loses a match to Nikki, no harm, no foul. Babyshit green wrestlers are a commodity?

I think you can give Eva Marie credit for trying to improve AND say she has no business working her way up through NXT. Although, I'm starting to wonder if pushing the Baron Corbins and Eva Maries down in Full Sail is deliberate knowing the audience. The fans love their indy darlings and the ones that seem more interested in wrestling than modeling. Eva's a throwback to the 2000s Maxim model signing bonanza led by Johnny Ace's penis. They know she's gonna get heat for (a) being signed for Total Divas and (b) having zero wrestling experience. The best way to get heat down in NXT is by being in the infancy stage of your development and being put out there to win against advanced talent. The moment that Eva Marie even so much as LOOKS at the NXT Women's Championship around Bayley's waist, that place will erupt with humanly inconceivable heat. I can't decide if that day will be highly entertaining, or completely infuriating.

She's green, but let's not act like she can't run the ropes without falling on her face or anything like that. I used to think Eva was shit too and that it was appalling that she got TV time while others sat on the sidelines in obscurity, but she's come a long way.

She's on NXT, which loosely quoted is "to develop talent and get them ready for TV"
There she has the chance to work with Sara Del Rey at the PC, she has Kendrick training her. If she has a feud with Bayley then how is that a bad thing as far as Eva learning, improving and gaining experience?
No matter how good NXT is, it's still developmental and for better or worse if 'big bad Vince' wants you on RAW then off you go.

WWE feel like they have to have her doing something otherwise people will just ask "Where's Eva Marie?" or "What happened to her?". Yeah, I'm sure if she disappeared this board would be clogged with "Where's Eva Marie?" threads! I mean how many wrestlers over the years have they quietly removed from TV only to bring back later (or never)? Shitloads, it's just how it works and most fans probably don't even know who she is.

i don't know much about eva marie, just what i have seen from total divas. so i'll just repeat what the other girls on there said: WHY DID IT TAKE HER TWO YEARS WITH THE WWE TO FINALLY REALIZE SHE SHOULD START TRAINING TO BE A WRESTLER? I'm still fairly certain all of that is a smokescreen that WWE cooked up to get the heat off her and get people on her side. Obviously they're trying to get her to work out as a wrestler, but I'm of the belief she would have been perfectly happy not doing a damn thing in the ring and still being employed. I honestly don't think she went up to them and went "Guys, this whole sitting around and being paid thing is alright, but what I really want to do is take bumps all week." I'm just not willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one, considering how little improvement I've seen from her.

Well, now, hold on. At the end of the day, she's on TV. When you are on TV, you get (rightfully) graded on a totally different standard than someone just training to do wrestling. In classic internet fashion, a select few are trying to do the most with it (and you can figure out who they are real quick if you're like me and actually keep track of who's who on here and keep a mental track record of the stuff people post and how they carry themselves on a daily basis) but the vast majority of people that criticize Eva are pretty fair, IMO. Potential is one thing but we also need to comment on the present so we actually have something to compare her to as she keeps wrestling. People talking shit about you on the internet is something you have to deal with if you are gonna be a WWE star now. Some of it's totally valid, some of it's not. You can either whine and blame the fans for it or you can just do your thing, get better at your craft, and try to prove those folks wrong. You're not gonna make everyone happy but sometimes, criticism can be the best thing in the world for you. It keeps you humble and grounded. If nothing else, Eva seems to have the right attitude about it unlike folks like Paige who turned her trigger fingers into twitter fingers when fans started turning on her matches (albeit, for reasons somewhat out of her control). Now I wanna hear Seth go "John, hey John, is that a world tour or your girl's tour?! Ha ha haaaaaa!"

NXT run house shows, maybe she should be working house shows to gain experience before being put back on TV.

Giving someone shitty at their job airtime or hours just so they can make your good workers look good is a horrible and terribly dishonest thing to do. But Eva isn't "shitty" (anymore), she just isn't as good as the best. And that's why they're the best. Not being as good as the best doesn't mean that you make up excuses for them not even being mediocre.

I would like to squash all the comparisons to Carmella, please. Eva Marie isn't even on Carmella's level. Go back and watch her indie matches before she signed with The E. Even Bayley's pre-WWE matches were light years ahead of Eva, and some of them were pretty bad. Carmella had to protect both herself and the match from Eva Marie. If you're in there with someone like that, I wouldn't be surprised if that were considered an occupational hazard. I think you're confusing Carmella and KC Cassidy/Cassie/Peyton Royce (i'm not sure on her name anymore). To my knowledge, Carmella never wrestled before NXT, but I know Cassie has. vs cassie www.dailymotion.com/video/x2z994c_nxt-eva-marie-vs-cassie_sportvs carmella www.dailymotion.com/video/x33d6ga_720phd-wwe-nxt-08-26-15-eva-marie-vs-carmella_sportYep, I stand corrected.

In doing my research for this thread with my weak Carmella defense, I came up short. However, I found two videos of a famous talent-enhancer who looks an awful lot like her: youtu.be/AiGxx3X1_Pkyoutu.be/YjjiNQmmaBI

Babyshit green wrestlers are a commodity? She's green, but let's not act like she can't run the ropes without falling on her face or anything like that. Would you qualify "forgetting to kick out" as "something like that"? I certainly would. And after witnessing that, you get to hear Graves ranting about how Eva Marie is "poised to take over the NXT women's division". Doesn't that just fill you with optimism? In light of what is an obvious impending mega-push, such negativity isn't merely justified, it's utterly necessary. The Full Sail crowd were doing God's work with their pillorying, as far as I'm concerned.

"She's new" is no longer an excuse. I just checked this out. Her debut was 2 weeks before Charlotte's. The best and worst divas in the division have been trained in the same place by the same people for the same amount of time. Given she's been going 1 to 1 with TBK, Eva's had MORE training focused on her and she still blows.

It's understandable that she looks terrible considering how little experience she has but it's still pretty jarring to watch. She just looks so unnatural like she's trying to remember what's going on and what she has to do next. Like they've obviously told her to "look aggressive" so she walks around gritting her teeth trying to look tough but it just looks weird.
Again it's pretty understandable she sucks but anyone saying she's anywhere near approaching "good" either has insanely low standards or is just insanely sympathetic to her for having to be on TV when she's not ready.

I think she would make an amazing valet.
For a man or woman.
She's got a marketable look/gimmick.

They know what they're doing down here. They know everyone in the live crowds hates Eva Marie and loves Bayley. They know that most of the Network audience feel the same way. And they definitely know that a Bayley v Eva Marie feud will have those people invested, even if it's just on a level of "Oh, f***, don't have Bayley lose to HER". The botches don't help, sure, but the heat in the likely Bayley v Eva Marie title match will be INCREDIBLE, even if the match itself might not be. I mean, some here have already felt shivers down their spine just by Eva making the "Me want belt" motion.
