Seriously. Anymore the internet, whether it's Facebook, Twitter, or the majority of forums and news sites, is all about how horrible and terrible and awful everything is and how it's all (insert group here)'s fault. It's getting extremely wearisome. Fandoms? Doomed. Country? Doomed. Planet? Doomed. Current events certainly haven't been helping, but the undercurrent of negativity is so strong it's pretty much pushing me into a "So why should I even bother with anything then?" mindset.
It's almost inescapable (and then people will jump on you and call you a sheep if you don't want to obsess with how horrible everything is) but I think it's seriously starting to get to me.

I get that way sometimes too. Unfortunately with access to information so easy to obtain, you see more and more of the bad because...well that gets clicks. Although I can't resist a cute wild animal hanging with people video.

I feel ya. And no matter how many times I tell people "I don't want to hear about it", that's all they ever talk about.

I avoid certain TV channels, Twitter, Facebook, comments sections etc...
It's simple, but it works.

I recommend "Sofia The First" No gloom. No doom. My niece actually hates that show xD Jake and the Neverland Pirates is where it's at. But yeah, I try, but it's so damned hard to avoid sometimes. Worst is at the gym. I go to the gym super early in the morning for peace and quiet, always set the TVs to the MLB Network, but lately there's been a guy who comes in and immediately changes the TV to a certain news channel and turns the volume super loud. It's like one, dude, how can you even work out to that? and two, one of my entire reasons of going to the gym is to get AWAY from that. Pisses me off.

Yeah, except that people have always been saying "we're doomed". Hesiod said the world was coming to an end soon. That was well over 2600 years ago. And we're still here, babies and puppies are born everyday, people still fall in love, and the sun rises every day. and if you don't believe me remember This. And the song is 26 years old. The world's not perfect. It never was. But it is ok. And sometimes that's enough .

I FEEL SO GOOD
I FEEL SO NUMB, YEAH
I guess I'm cold, because it doesn't affect me at all. I watched that shooting, and while it was terrible, it didn't give me nearly the same reaction some of you had.
I do think some people exaggerate on how "bad" it is.

I'm also sick and tired of people constantly negative, assuming the worst in everyone, and just shitting on everything.

This is why I usually avoid sad threads on here. Also why I don't like when some threads have very vague titles that I think are jokes, but turn out to be grim(not that I blame people who write those threads).

I miss those days, as long as I wasn't personally effected by something I was pretty close to being a sociopath. However that gradually stopped, where once I could be unmoved by the deaths of thousands I'm now bothered by just about everything right down to f***ing charity adverts. So much for desensitisation.

It's not just on the net, it's offline too.
Or at least it is for me, maybe my life just sucks.

Reminds me a bit of that Adam Curtis video on Weekly Wipe.

I currently live with a person who is sure the world is going to end at any moment, and has these "plans" for all kinds of doomsday scenarios. I can't go anywhere near them without getting asked if I heard about the latest disaster.

I can get behind a "Cynicism Depreciation" thread. I'm sick and tired of all the pessimism about the government, pop culture, and everything else. Things may have been hard last decade, but a lot good things have turned around. I can't be more specific without possibly breaking board rules but there are plenty of things in the future to look forward to.
