Inspired by the other thread about who you cheer w/o affiliation. Who do you despise despite no rivalry with your team?
Ohio State. This started for me in 2003. They got a dirty championship because of one of the worst calls in championship game history. After that ESPN and all the other sports writers gave them a bounce on mane recognition. Every yr the Buckeyes would be highly ranked and hype would be non stop. Then almost invariably they'd lose to some jobber they shouldn't have. I must give them credit for last yr, but no matter what a marvel they pulled, that was last yr and they gets no bounce from me. I resent them again and give them nothing coming into the season. Earn it first
The Yankees. I know that any major sport is about spending money to grab the talent that gives you the best chance for success, but the Yankees go well past normal on this. Their payroll yr in and yr out is enormous and they always pick up top talent from other MLB teams who have deliberately developed talent and start winning. It's smart but it is also a d&@$ move. Young kids in small markets get behind a player, he becomes a hero and savior to their team. Then the Yankees back the Brinks truck up and take him.
The Detroit Red Wings. I had no dog in the fight in 1989. In Texas we had no hockey (ice not being a naturally occurring phenomenon in Tx). So as a young ICBM was becoming obsessed with all things sports, he tried watching hockey. WGN would cover hockey when ESPN wouldn't and they of course focused on the Blackhwaks. So Detroit became my default team to hate. I might have run out of steam on hate, except for the Stars facing them so often in playoffs or conference play. But then the wings became the Yankees of hockey. Offering insane contracts to the best players in the league. Detroit upset the salary structure in the NHL in 2001-02 with sweeping free agent acquisitions. They still didn't win the cup. I honestly still blame them almost solely for the labor stoppage of 04 which almost killed the entire league. There simply isn't football money in hockey. The revenue is not there and yet players wanted it. Detroit paid it but their market could afford it. Not many teams could afford to do what the wings, Kings or Rangers did.
The Lakers. When Magic Johnson retired and the easy to hate Kobe Bryant came in, I switched my love for LA and have not looked back. Nowadays I don't mind Kobe and I feel bad for LA. They just cannot get it together.
So who are your teams to hate?

Ohio State, as a Michigan fan.
Duke University. No real reason. I just can't stand them.
the LA Dodgers, because of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
the Yankees, because I also like the Red Sox.

Nobody.
Even a team you hate the most will end up playing a team you need them to beat so your team can succeed.
But saying that I don't cheer for Tottenham, Chelsea or Man Utd. Unless I have to then I curse them when they inevidently lose because I need them to win.

Ohio State, as an Ohio resident not particularly into football who is completely sick of hearing about them and the infatuation people in the small towns get with it. Also went to undergrad in Michigan and I swear 9 times out of 10 the tOSU fans were the ones picking fights and threatening the UM fans.
I can respect tOSU as an institution, but what was very telling and made me almost immediately decide to go somewhere else, was being there for an open house when I was considering different schools, and almost literally the first thing they did was trot out the marching band and Brutus. It was a massive turn-off but 90% of the room went bonkers over it.
St. Louis Cardinals, I don't know why, but they've just always come off as mind-numbingly boring and invincible. Even the Yankees have bad years where you're like "Hah, serves you right", but the Cardinals are almost too consistent and too "Aw shucks" as a team personality to like. So basically they're the Cena of the MLB.
Red Sox, not as much as the aforementioned two teams, but I still hate the way that the majority of Red Sox fans act like they're still this huge underdog or small town team since they won the world series and pretty much have a payroll similar to the Yankees.
Arizona Diamondbacks, the last few seasons they've just come off as really kind of a dirty team with beanballs and just the way they carry themselves. I know a lot of that was sort of a directive by the Kirk Gibson administration so I'm not sure if that's still an issue, but that reputation will take a while to go away.

As a Mets fan, I cannot cheer for these teams: New York Yankees Philadelphia Phillies Atlanta Braves Washington Nationals St. Louis Cardinals Only reason I left out the Marlins is because MLB.com writer Joe Frisaro is a cousin.

Baseball (White Sox fan): Yankees and Cubs. I just can't do it. The Tigers pop up from time to time as well. Football (Packers fan): Bears, Vikings and Cowboys. (Cowboys were usually the roadblock to keep Green Bay from a Super Bowl appearance in the '90s. Never forgot that.)
I am also not big on Notre Dame football...unless they play Michigan for reasons I can't remember.

Manchester United & Liverpool: Fans & arrogance of the organisations. Patriots & Seahawks. Why yes, the last Superbowl was a wonderful experience. Raiders: I'm a Broncos fan. Okalahoma City Thunder: Used to support the Sonics, the move just left a bad rasre in my mouth. (If Seattle gets a new Sonics franchise with access to all the history of the old Sonics, then this will change, they'll be JAT (Just Another Team) in this case)
Not a team, but I'll never support Phil Taylor (the darts player, not the Motorhead drummer) due to him being an odious little man and a monumentally bad loser, who only gets away with it because he's a cash cow.

The England Football team. Not because I'm Scottish (our team sucks donkey dick I refuse to cheer them as well) but because the British media insists on portraying them as a good football team. When in fact you put them up against a competent side they get beaten. And they only got the cup in '66 because they were hosting it.

I am English, and I also do not support the English National Team... I'm not really into Association Football, and I hate the attention they get whenever there's a tournament... weeks and weeks of newspapers going on about them, team selections, whether the inevitable injured 'star' will be fit... and then they do crap, and there's weeks and weeks of discussions on why they did crap, who's to blame for them doing crap, who should be sacked... when they've done about as well as they should have considering the players they had available.

If anything, the Giants are closer to the Cena of the MLB in my eyes. They haven't been consistently successful as the Cards in postseason play overall since 2000, but they've still won three world titles over the past six years, and outside of the Midwest Posey gets more press than Yadi.
So as a Cards fan I boo the hell out of them, along with the Red Sox (easily my most hated AL team), Pirates and Reds. The Cubs are more of a friendly rivalry.

Baseball: Boston Red Sox. I could marry a Red Sox fan and still never cheer for them. As a Rays fan, the same goes for their rivals, the Yankees. I am a Braves fan in the National League, so the Mets, Phillies, Nationals and Marlins are all on the list as well. Right now, the Nationals are the worst. Their lack of respect is appalling. They've anointed themselves the kings of baseball for the last few years, yet they've never won a playoff series.
Football: Carolina Panthers. They have the most heated rivalry with my Buccaneers. I even cheer for other division rivals against Carolina.
Basketball: Los Angeles Lakers for... Lakers reasons. And the Miami Heat, since I grew up a Magic fan.
College: Florida Gators. I respect the hell out of the University of Florida as an academic institution. But, seeing how I grew up an FSU fan and ended up attending UCF, I can't cheer for their sports programs in good conscience. Ditto for the Miami Hurricanes, only I have very little respect for them in any capacity.

The only two that I can think of that have no rivalry with any of my favorite teams would be the Los Angeles Clippers in basketball and the Baltimore Ravens in football. There are other teams I dislike (Chicago Bears, Detroit Red Wings, Kansas City Royals, New York Knicks) but those are all due to being rivals of my favorite teams. I guess the Knicks aren't as big a rival as they were in the 90s (I'm a Pacers fan), but those 90s battles made me dislike them and I still consider them a rival.
