You mean by far the most interesting and natural feeling part of the night? It's the most interesting thing of the night because of who Kanye is. Kanye's always gonna go out there and do something that forces you to react. The rest of them have managers, agents and PR people who will never let them go out there and ramble on about the negative consequences of branding while married to a woman whose family is more of a brand these days than an actual family. He's a walking contradiction. And a narcissist to boot. But because he's completely unfiltered, people see it as refreshing and candid. I'm sorry. The guy goes out and talks how he 'died' just so other artists can now have the platform to say what they want to say about other artists. Gag me with a pair of leather sweatpants. Dude got drunk and interrupted Taylor Swift accepting an award a few years ago because he's close with Beyonce. And I thought it was hilarious at the time because award shows are simply designed to bring celebrities together to celebrate celebrities. Winning and losing awards shouldn't be life or death for these folks. Kanye didn't deserve the heat he got from that. I like Kanye when he's not trying to act like he's the voice of a generation. But he's got so many people blowing smoke up his ass, his ego is only bound to grow larger and larger which, I suppose, makes him even more intriguing. The thing is, Kanye is the voice of a generation from the music world. So yes he is a narcissist but it's the truth.

I'm glad Kendrick won video of the year as part of the Taylor Swift Wreckin' Crew. Shame he couldn't be there tonight. Moment of the night: Nicki Minaj shooting on Miley Cyrus. Yes, cred gained by calling out the 90 lbs white girl after thanking your preacher in your acceptance speech for an ass video. Reading through this page,, I knew this was going to happen. Yes, Nicki called out that 90 pound white girl after that 90 pound white girl totally missed the point and called Nicki out in the media when Nicki called out the racism in the industry.

The thing is, Kanye is the voice of a generation from the music world. So yes he is a narcissist but it's the truth. I am glad that you added in music world, because as a 25 year old, nothing he says applies to me in any way. And when I think about it, he's far from the voice of the music world, as well. He's got bravado, he has his supporters and people who will treat what he says as important, but really he is no different than you or me. He's got money and is married to the media's favorite it-girl, has talent in music and it's outspoken. These award shows he thrives on, they're celebrities celebrating being celebrities. But when you take yourself out of the bubble, there's no substance there. It's more manufactured than a Roman Reigns push and meant to get people talking. It's a dollars and cents phenomena, and there's nothing wrong with making a buck. But insisting West is speaking up for a generation is not much different than MTV's film, Reality Bites speaking for the 90's generation.

Minaj and Swift also had a beef over a similar(if not same) thing too.

- Kanye for President. Ladies and gentlemen... this is Exhibit A when you allow a celebrity with a god complex complete control over his decisions. You know why Daryl Hall never got out of control? Because he had John Oates pimp slap the f*** out of him if he tried to go off the reservation on their blue-eyed R&B soul style. You mean by far the most interesting and natural feeling part of the night? Hate Yeezy all you want, that was an incredibly interesting and weird speech...and people are going to talk about it for a LONG time. If he had in uncontrollable diarrhea on stage they'd talk about it for a long time too. That'd be strange and we'll, interesting too. Kanye has turned into a clown, honestly it was tolerable to a point say 5 years ago, now it's just expectted. Same way I fully expected Miley Cyrus to try her best to be WHOA LOOK OUT she's CRAaaaaaaaaaZaYy . And she didn't disappoint either. That and yeah marajuna references are the new F word chance to get a cheap pop from the home crowd.

Minaj and Swift also had a beef over a similar(if not same) thing too. They did, though "beef" is sort of an overstatement. Taylor misinterpreted the situation and took offense to something Nicki didn't really mean. They had a little argument over it, then Tay-Tay realized her mistake and apologized. And then Katy Perry, petty as she is, tried to take advantage of the heat on Taylor only to be ignored by both Swift and Minaj. Then they made up and all was happy good times again. And then Miley Cyrus had to dredge it all up again for no real reason.

God damn Miley Cyrus is the biggest f***ing try-hard I've ever seen. It's like someone's single 50 something year old mother trying to connect with the teens. "I'm so edgy and whacky you guys! Weedweedweedweed" *sticks out tongue*
Go awaaaaay.

That's why I always roll my eyes when people get all morally outraged by her. Who's the bigger fool? The fool or the fool that gets fooled by the fool? Seriously. She's a parody of a parody. Being offended by her is like being offended by Scary Movie 5 or Movie 43. I think there is something to be said though in terms of a discussion existing for her as a potential role model for young girls who look up to her. I know, art shouldn't be subjected to morality, and while I believe Miley is rightfully free to express herself in any way possible, be it sexually or through her music/fashion (so long as it doesn't hurt anybody), I do think a case could be made that she's suddenly engaging all these ideas without really giving a context. It's not your typical "child star grows up and does something adult" or "child star grows up and has a scandal" scenario. Miley's moves have all be calculated both artistically and commercially, yet the disconnect between Hannah Montana and twerking on Robin Thicke in 2013 was such a sudden (for lack of better term) reinvention. Granted she had a cancelled engagement in the year in-between, but had mostly been doing acting. And then that happened. When you think of how much someone changes between 19-22, that's a lot to undergo, especially for someone whose family-friendly fair was still running in syndication. And it's not like she isn't capable of context, her dedicating her Video of the Year moment to draw attention to homeless youth in LA, a cause really nobody was talking about, and handling that whole matter was excellent. But now it's how it was two years ago where she just really, really likes sex and pot. Not that either warrants judgment of another human being, it's just a really unique space she occupies that's I feel we're all (including her) still unpacking.

found this...
Despite a saucy choice of host, a surprise presidential announcement and the settling/starting of beefs, ratings for the 2105 MTV Video Music Awards were down from the previous year, though all that excitement led to record-breaking Twitter engagement.
According to Nielsen stats, drew in 9.8 million total viewers across all the various Viacom networks it was broadcast on, compared to 10.3 million views last year, Deadline Hollywood reports. However, the show was the most tweeted about non-sports program since Nielsen began tracking the the stat. According to the data, the VMAs generated 21.4 million tweets.
It's weird, I mean ratings are supposed to be where it's at, but now since this was "the most tweeted about non-sports program since Nielsen began tracking the the stat" that somewhat negates a decades old system with something that has only been around a few years

WWE boasts their shows trending worldwide, and yet their ratings continue to slide. I am curious if there is a metric there.

I mean, how many of those tweets were "Glad I don't watch this crap anymore"

I guess nowadays, regardless of ratings, if people aren't tweeting about some event, then it's as bad as X-pac heat. That or this is just a new way to put a positive spin on something. But that's weird too-"ratings are down, not as many people are watching, but people are talking about us"
