Craig Bartlett has moved on. I know Nick owns the rights, but he'd be pissed if this happens now after so long.

Do not even play around with me. I've been needing this for so long.
My thought process was, well, it took so many years for us to get the Veronica Mars movie, I can hold out hope for the Jungle Movie. If it really happens... WOW...

I honestly thought the Jungle Movie was kind of a dumb idea to begin with.
Now, if they'd get off their asses and make the Patakis...

I've kind of grown to accept that there's no legit answer to what happen to Arnold's parents. Kind of like The Soprano's ending, it leaves for the viewer to put their own conclusion into it all. For how much I want it to happen, I think they waited too long. It's likely a troll or a post taken out of context. At this point I can take it or leave it.

Can Arnold at least get a voice actor that sounds like his original voice? His later voice distracts me.

The Patakis would play better now then it would've back when they first were talking about airing it.

I never got why there needed to be a bigger story around Arnold's parents. To me, the "Parent's Day" episode was enough - they're probably dead, but maybe (just maybe) they're not.

Was Arnold's backstory suppose to resemble Peter Parker's? That detail was always interesting to me.

And Gerald becomes a god to robots because of his prodigal skill at robotics and he eventually gets into a homosexual relationship with Stinky.

I feel the same way about this as I do about ReBoot: I'm not going to get excited about this until it's already in our hands.

I'm sorry but how many people would seriously be interested in this?
Hey Arnold wasn't the most popular show even when it was airing originally and it's been a long time. I know nostalgia and all but....I dunno.

I know nostalgia and all but....I dunno. Hey Arnold lasted five years. Maybe not as many years as Rugrats (and as a result, never wore out it's welcome) but it still carved a nice little niche for itself and has a sizeable online fanbase to this day and it's had it's torch carried for a long while by those that grew up with it and want closure on the plot lines. Nick made the mistake of making what was always planned as a TV movie the theatrical version. Even if the Jungle movie had been a flop (which even I feel it would have been), it would have still been a serviceable finale with every plotline resolved. Instead the "Arnold Saves the Neighborhood" movie teased developments but reverted to status quoe at the end.

Was Arnold's backstory suppose to resemble Peter Parker's? That detail was always interesting to me. They originally planned for Arnold to receive postcards from his parents throughout the series, but they ended up not doing that thinking fans wouldn't mind that much. But apparently they got a lot of fanmail asking about it, so they made the HUGE plan they had. Long story short, they revealed Arnold's parents were explorers and scientists and had helped a tribe in Central America with a disease in the past, but had received word from their assistant Eduardo that the same tribe was under a new threat. At first they turned down the offer since they had Arnold now (who was only a year old) but Eduardo insisted the village would be wiped off the map without their help, so they agreed but told Arnold and his grandparents they'd only been gone for a "little bit". Then they also had the episode "The Journal", which was to be the setup for the "Jungle Movie", and (whether intentional or not) ended up being the final episode of the show. In the film (which Craig Bartlett revealed through interviews once the series was over), it was pretty much supposed to wrap up most of the major points of the series. It damn near came out in 2004 when Nick offered a new contract to Bartlett, but at the time Bartlett was too far along on a pilot for Cartoon Network to cancel it, so he turned down the offer. In return, Nick canned the series and the movie. Craig has said he'd be open to do the film with Nick's backing, but they'd have to start from square one and throw out everything they'd finished (there is concept art and test footage floating around, many of which Bartlett has confirmed legit), and possibly even change some of the plot that had been revealed. Barlett won't say whether the Jungle Movie was going to be the finale of the series at the time, but he has revealed if work were to ever resume on it, it certainly would be the end of the series and some points would need changed based on that alone. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}A lot of the plot points throughout the series would've been revealed in the film, including Arnold's last name, as the film would've opened with Arnold signing for a package using the full name, which Bartlett has suggested was "Arnold Shortman", referencing what Grandpa had been calling him throughout the series.
The class would've won a field trip to San Lorenzo (where Arnold's parents were last seen) thanks to an essay contest Arnold won, telling about his parents and what he found in the journal.
Arnold would eventually find his parents alive, and Barlett has given conflicting quotes about whether Arnold would stay behind by the end of the film or would go back home and whether his parents would stay or go. There was also to be a slow burn through the film where Arnold would "find out" about Helga's feelings and there would be the resolution of that as well. Arnold would feel the same way (just not in the obsessive way Helga felt), and they would kiss at some point in the film.

I assumed they were dead or deadbeats. I grew up with my grandparents so I never even gave much thought to any of that. I'm so far removed from hey Arnold I didn't even know any of this. The post above was really informative. I'm not sure I would like Arnold turning into the wild thornberrys.
