Since we have a thread that touches on the second amendment issue without getting political, I thought it's time we tried a thread on the third amendment.
Anyone here think we should be free to quarter soldiers wherever we want? When's the last time you quartered soldiers? Anyone ever tried to quarter soldiers in your home and you were like "Nuh-uh buddy!"
Remember, try to keep it out of the political realm, you guys.

The other thread touches on 2nd amendment issues the same way a thread about a newspaper on 1st amendment issues. This is directly talking about a law. On the other hand given the relevance of the third amendment it is more like talking about political scandals during the Madison administration than talking politics.

So, can this thread fly it's it's just about the act of quartering soldiers in homes in general?

Cena wanted to stay at my house against my will.
I said "but you're a Marine. The Third Amendment protects me"
He said "please....Nikki flooded my bathroom!"
I sighed and said "Fine. Take the sofa"

I thought quartering was like a medieval punishment That would be drawn and quartered. I guess this kind of a tough one as like the right to bear arms, it's somewhat based on ideas that have changed since that time. Personally, I think you should have a right to refuse based on your beliefs. Master P crashed in my guest room one time. Did he make you say "ughhhh?"

Similar question...
Since the second amendment was considered necessary to make a well-armed militia, who are not technically soldiers- does this mean that technically, the third amendment requires us to quarter a militia in our home without our consent?
Someone, tell me- they're starting to talk about some serious stuff, I don't want to be caught as an accomplice, so I need to know if I can tell them to take a hike.

The 3rd Amendment came about because Bostonians were forced to house British soldiers following the tax revolts in the late 1760s-early 1770s, and it was a serious concern of many that it could happen again.
