I'm currently in the midst of one.
Purchased a 2 TB external HD to upgrade my PS4's storage before all the big games come out for the rest of the year, especially MSG today, and I ordered it almost a week and a half ago because I figured that would easily give it enough time to arrive to a place where the postage normally takes about three days max. Yet here I sit, 10 days later, and still nothing. The guy who I purchased it from barely ever communicates with me and ignores all the things I ask he do to help me; the post office doesn't know or care what happened to it; eBay is taking their time responding to me and I'm not sure whether to ask for a refund or not because it was a good price but it doesn't seem to be coming and the guy likely won't get back to me anyway because he's like that.
TLDR: Ordered a HD to upgrade PS4 storage before a certain date, guy I bought it from is a dick, no item arrived. Pissed off.

Having to negotiate with a dude on eBay that could barely speak English to cancel an order on a pair of headphones was one of the most nightmarish experiences of my life.

My boss ordered a computer monitor for work, received not only a different model of monitor but a different brand. Sent it back right away, spent about two months trying to get the right one.

The shirt I ordered that was to be here within 3-5 days. It's now day 17 and counting. They told me they just shipped it a few days ago because it sold out. Why they allowed me to buy an out of stock shirt I have no idea why.

I've been pretty fortunate to never have particular individual nightmare scenarios when it comes to online shopping.
But generally, nothing gets me more frazzled and nervous than when you click to submit an order and the site times out. DO I NEED TO ORDER IT AGAIN? DID YOU CHARGE ME? WILL I GET CHARGED TWICE IF I DO IT AGAIN? DAMN IT INTERNET!

I had that situation yesterday when my MGS pre-order on PSN suddenly wasn't there and I FREAKED and had no idea whether or not I should pre-order it again in case they charge me twice, something I certainly don't need.

I've had packages come very late, but the most constant annoyance is how shitty Amazon's search function is.
For shits and giggles, search for an item. Good, good, now sort by price lowest to highest. Is anything on the page even related to what you want? What criteria does it think counts as lowest? One penny and 6 dollars shipping is not lower than 2.99, etc.
Why does such a huge company have such a terrible search engine?

Had a few.
There was a certain issue of 2000 AD I needed to fill in a gap. Found someone on Ebay selling it for 10 cents and 2 bucks shipping. Ordered it and kind of forgot I ordered it.
Then 2 days after my last chance to file with Paypal I remembered I had ordered it. Emailed the guy and got basically a "F you" reply. Hope he really needed that 2 bucks and change.
But my worst/best was when I ordered "Into the Pit". It is a indy documentary on the at one time popular Deadpit Radio podcast. Ordered it from the company that made it. It was 20 bucks, and they wanted $10 for shipping. I went ahead and ordered it. It came in 3 weeks later in a plain mailer. Not even one with bubble wrap on the inside. The case was one of those eco cases and it was shattered. The disc did work. I contacted the company "Look I paid 10 bucks for shipping and yall couldn't even protected it better than using a 50 cent mailer from the dollar store." Got told that they didn't charge 10 bucks for shipping and they had no control over what happened to it after it left their hands.
A week later I got in another copy. Same kind of mailer but this one was in perfect shape.I assumed they changed their minds and sent me a better copy. Get my credit card bill and see I am charged for 2 copies. So filed a dispute over it. Ended up getting back my money on both copies. I contacted the dvd company again, this time offering to send one of the copies back to them and got told to just keep it.
Months later on the Deadpit forums the company made a thread about how they only had a few left and were blowing them out at $10 each plus $5 shipping. I commented asking if they protect it better this time and why did they charge $10 for shipping. Once again they claimed they didn't charge 10 for shipping. So I scanned my receipt and posted it in the thread. Within 5 minutes the entire thread was deleted and one of the guys from Deadpit messaged me and told me "Stop trying to cause trouble Boz".
Last I heard that company is out of business. Stuck with piles of copies of the documentary.

Not a particularly bad one, but I remember a while back, Prowrestlingtees, I was about to order something, but then decided against it, and closed the tab with items in teh basket.
Anyway, I got an email the next day saying I'd ordered a bunch of shirts, and they were being shipped to somewhere in St Louis. Managed to get it all sorted out, turned out to be a problem with their servers, but when you get an email saying £200-odd has been charged to your card & someone in St Louis is benefiting from it, you panic a bit.

Years ago, I tried to buy a couple of comp NWA wrestling tapes and the guy never sent them. He attempted to get back in touch with me, but he was just stringing me along and I never did receive them.
I proceeded to email him and cut a promo and told him that whatever he gout out of me wasn't anything to me and how pathetic he was, I ended it with by telling him that the next time something really terrible happened to him or a member of his family, to think back to me or any number of people he tried to screw over in his life, and he had it coming. f***er.

Sit tight ladies and germs this one is quite the doozy:
A few years back I needed a certain kind of expensive laptop for school, so I found a refurbished one for a reasonable price on EBAY put in a bid and won.
I paid via Paypal and a few days later I got a note from the seller that they were having trouble processing the transaction and to resend the payment. I got a gut feeling that something wasn't right and formally requested to withdraw my bid as the unit had not been shipped out yet. The sell actually calls me up personally and begs me to reconsider so I decided to send out my payment to them once more.
Less then a week later my computer arrived I turned it on to find it freezes on the loading screen and every solution I tried to get it to work did not work.
I contacted the seller by phone and told that he wasn't in that day and wouldn't be in for at least three days. And by email all I got in response was some was some vaguely threatening claptrap about how they have yet to receive payment even though they already had shipped the machine to my house and might have to take appropriate "action." Even though by this time I sent two separate payments their way and as I will soon will learn it turns out both of them actually had cleared which meant I had paid for the bloody thing twice.
Anyways with no where else to turn I checked with the manufacturer to see if there was anywhere I could take my computer to have it looked at and there was a place in town that offered that service. So off I went and they told me that whom ever refurbished the computer didn't do a very good job as the cable that connected mother board to the hard drive was twisted and since this was a refurbished model they couldn't service it.
I let the seller know about this and they went on the warpath, once again claiming that I had not yet paid for the unit and that I did something illegal by taking their "property" to a third party.
I checked my bank statements and lo and behold both payments went through, so I fired back at them with that little bit of information even giving them documented proof that said as much. Immediately it caused them to back peddle stating that my first payment went through and that it took a little longer then normal because of their new system.
They said they would refund the first purchase, but that meant I would still on the hook for a bricked machine. So I said to them, nope I'm sending back your lemon and I want all my money back. They begrudgingly agreed to this because they were tired of dealing with me, of course they dragged their feet on the whole refund thing, so I filed a claim with Paypal and won since they never responded to it.
Needless to say it was a very nerve wracking month and a half.

I seem to have worse experiences buying things in shops than online. The worst I've had to deal with when buying online wasn't even that bad.
I was trying to buy a joystick so that I could play Tie Fighter and finally found a half decent, cheap one. A couple of days after I ordered it I got an email telling me that it was actually out of stock and they would send it out when they got some more stock in. A few months later, after I had forgotten about it, I got another email saying they weren't getting any more in and had cancelled my order.

I've been waiting on the dudes who are making the next run of Pier Solar to send them out for like two years or something. I get reminded of it whenever they send out the occasional message letting people know that they're still waiting on the discs/cartridges to come back from the factory or whatever.

My wife ordered a pair of boots online from Avenue during the holidays. We live in the second floor of a condo building. We came home and found the box on the stairway leading up to the second floor, torn open, and the boots taken. I reported the theft to the Postal Inspectors.
Avenue was pretty good about this, and send a replacement pair of boots....or tried to. Instead of a large box with a pair of boots, a very thing package arrived. The shipping label on the outside of the box had my wife's name and our address, but on the inside was a tiny shirt and a shipping label for an Indian woman in New York.
Aside from the initial swift attempt at replacing the boots, Avenue was completely terrible. Unlike with some stores where the online shipping and in store matters can both be handled in person at the store, everything had to be handled through their website or call center staffed by terribly stupid people. My wife had to ship the shirt back, and given our low confidence in any of this processing correctly, put in the box a letter explaining absolutely everything.
Following a typical rage inducing trip to the post office, which is the only way Avenue would pay for the shipping costs, nothing happened for 3 months.
As Spring was arriving in the air, what should arrive but the pair of boots. After all the hassle, and now that winter was gone, the boots had finally arrived. They did not fit.

Two orders I made for online purchases (WWE Day of Reckoning 2 & the original Shadowrun core rulebook) never arrived, and I had to reorder them. And I didn't get my friend's money back on either one, because he helped me with them.
