Summerslam 2004 in Toronto, the crowd absolutely can't stand Edge. I know he's a heel but they're usually behind him regardless. They're chanting Y2J and We Want Christian. They even cheer roided up gorilla Batista over him. What did he do to piss everybody off? It was alot of things firstly He sucked at the time he was just really really boring as a character & a promo he couldn’t gain any of that all important momentum as he was always hurt and he returned after more than a year off with neck surgery got way too bulky due to being on the gas and it hindered his performances. He feuded with Kane,He had a great ppv match with Orton and then next he’s back to being boring and got hurt again. He’s talked about this time a ton on interviews and on his podcast as a huge eye opener that he had to drastically change things up when as a babyface IC champ he gets booed out of the building in his hometown.

Even Jim Ross comments on it at the end of the match. I had thought Edge was the face due to his introduction "he is Toronto's own, Edge!" and he begins the match working a face style. He plays into the crowd though with smirks.
Very bizarre.

He actually became a heel a couple of months later. I believe he and Benoit were partners, and Edge walked out on a match, leaving Benoit to fend for himself.

He far from sucked. He had an incredible run on Smackdown in 2002. His return from injury wasn't great.

Oh, also, Hogan once beat Vader in a strap match by dragging Flair to all 4 corners. The bell actually rang after this and Heenan wondered why because Flair was not in the match. I always puzzled over that, though supposedly, this was done to appease Hogan and Vader. Vader did not want to lose to Hogan and put his foot down, obviously Hogan losing wasn't going to be an option, so Flair making the goofy ending was done to keep the peace without either guy losing.

I’m talking about his return in 2004 he himself admitted that he sucked at that point and that he had bulked up way too much in hopes of getting a main event push and to distract the fact that he wanted to change his style after the neck surgery. At that point he was a blah character and a poor promo he’s said it was getting booed in his hometown that made him realize what he was doing wasn’t working and thats why he pushed for a heel turn and once he turned heel it took awhile till he really clicked as an all around performer he had that period where he over enunciated every word in every promo,He got married,he started having good matches with HBK,he had the affair with lita, got a divorce,They put him with Lita on Tv and he’s said many times that he didn’t feel he was where he wanted to be till the summerslam 2005 feud with Hardy when he started cutting good promo’s. Edge is one of my favorites of all time but that 2004 run was not good and even he himself has even admitted as such.

Like, intentionally or not, I've always felt he took a lot of inspiration from Cactus Jack for that.

All I’ve ever heard him say was the frustration of Hardy/Lita triangle gave him the ability to vent his real-life frustrations and made him comfortable on the mic helping him find his characters voice.Once your on live tv dealing with real-life relationship stuff the fake pro wrestling stuff is a piece of cake I guess.

Can somebody explain to me the context of Road Dogg and Billy Gunn wearing Green Bay Packers jerseys at Royal Rumble 1998 to troll the San José crowd? I thought it was something to do with the Superbowl but Packers played Broncos that year.

Watching WWE 1995 right now, just watching all the PPVs and Raws from that year. Just passed Mania from that year. I never realized how long the story of the Undertaker losing his urn was. IRS takes the urn from Paul Bearer at the Royal Rumble in January. Undertaker does not get it back until the December In Your House. This lasted an entire year! It went through 3 feuds. First Undertaker vs. King Kong Bundy, then vs. Kama, who melted the urn down into a chain that he wore around his neck. Then Mabel took the chain once Taker was done with Kama.

They had Mr. Hughes steal the urn for Harvey Whippleman during the Giant Gonzalez feud of 1993. Perhaps that's what you're thinking of?

That Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. collecting the bounty on Ric Flair's head in 1983 was actually his heel turn. Didn't know that he was a face for a long time before that.

On the memorial day 98 Nitro they built up a match between Glacier vs Saturn over who does the better kick Saturn won the match with a dvd and didn’t do 1 kick the entire match. Also during this match the fans hated Raven so much so that they popped huge for Van Hammer attacking him.
In the main event that was very hard for Tony to explain Sting & Giant faced Sting & Luger.
