On the 3/24/97 Nitro when Savage and the nWo are making their way to the ring for the match with Prince Iaukea, Nash throws up the Kliq sign and shouts into the camera "right back at ya HBK!" The night before that, Shawn put up the Kliq sign during his entrance at WrestleMania 13.

They were still promoting the Body Stars TV show on Superstars even after the WBF folded, complete with commercials that looked like the outtakes for the video for CeCe Peniston's "Finally."

The entire presentation of the Japanese national anthem at SummerSlam '93 should be pushed up higher on the list of disgraceful things the company has ever done. Kind of curious about what you mean. I'm watching that show and just saw it. They introduce the guy, he sings the song. It was the actual national anthem. I'm not seeing what's so disgraceful about it. If it's the fans booing, that's on the fans and that is hardly unique. Shiek and Volkov got booed out of the building every night they sang the Russian anthem.

I forgot that Terry Crews was in WCW briefly in late 2000 as part of WCW vs. Battledome feud.

If it's the fans booing, that's on the fans and that is hardly unique. Shiek and Volkov got booed out of the building every night they sang the Russian anthem. The Soviet Union was ostensibly an enemy of the U.S. Post-WWII Japan was not. Volkoff was a nasty heel who did nasty things and was a Bad Guy regardless of his nationality--this was just some guy who apparently deserved to be booed only because he was Japanese. I also seem to recall this guy sang a deliberately bad, off-key version of the anthem just to ensure additional hostility. Pushing Yokozuna as a killer monster heel is one thing, but this entire feud was built around trying to push the entire country of Japan as a heel, which was hopelessly outdated in 1993 for a number of reasons. My father was a man who reveled in the bad taste of wrestling's territory days and while extremely liberal on almost all major issues, also could be rather stereotype-based in his views of minorities and foreigners. And I remember him almost laughing in sheer disbelief at this segment, saying, "They really shouldn't be doing this." I wouldn't call it one of the most disgraceful things the company has ever done, but that's more because the list of disgraceful things the WWF/E has done is l-o-o-o-n-n-g. But it's definitely not a shining moment of glory.

Rewatching some mid 1997 Raws, and it's amazing how much Vince hypes up the UFC on commentary.

The USSR team from Starrcade 90 looked like a bunch of dads stumbled into wrestling

Perhaps not "learnt" but a couple of things remembered whilst watching a series of different Raw's and Smackdown's from late 2002:
- Michael Cole used to actually be really good. - The commentary teams for both shows are really over the top when it got to the PPV's to over-explain the different personalities on their brand as if talking to someone watching for the very first time. Was there actually anyone with that strong a brand loyalty to one over the other where it became a case of they had no idea what or who was happening on the other side? - Eric Bischoff constantly mentioned the fact Raw was going up against Monday Night Football in promos for a short stint. Dude revelled in having some form of ratings war, even if forcing the issue a bit.

Victor Zangiev (the balding one) would be the one in question. Fun fact: the other guy, Salman Hashimikov, was the guy who ended Vader's first IWGP title reign.

On the final raw before Mind Games Bob Holly & The Pug beat the tag champions The Smoking Gunns by pinfall in a non-title match and they never received a title shot. That’s poor presidenting by Gorilla Monsoon.

New Japan's title lineage is even stranger than the WCW or WWF/E one to me sometimes.

Nailz went to prison for over 2000 days because he overpaid on a couple of parking tickets according to Heenan at Survivor Series 92.
