for no real reason i decided to watch the absolute worst wcw era possible, so i'm watching new blood rising. i've never seen most of this year aside from like botchamania stuff. and i have to say, without any hint of irony, tank abbott leading and singing 3 count made me laugh, very, very hard. i think i would've been a huge 3 count mark at the time. Bro, I still mark for that gimmick. That's the perfect midcard goofball gimmick.

Josh Matthews at Judgement Day 2004 looks like someone in 2015 who decided to dress up as what the typical pretty boy announcer looked like in 2004.
It's hard to be more concise than that, but it is revelatory nonetheless.

Thread doesn't say "learnt". Therefore the thread is a lie.

Everyone in the Kliq was pretty intolerable but Kevin Nash from 97 is the worst. Your hair is grey, stop throwing gang signs and smirking so much

On the 9/13/99 Raw, British Bulldog comes out to one of the worst themes I have ever heard. It's not the hip-hop Rule Britannia, and it's also not the one with all the random bark songs. It's this thing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkAoF5qp7Go

I learned Debra's outfit for sumnerslam 99 was not something a manager should wear Ah yes, the WWE's take on the circus ringmaster gimmick At that time, Debra was 39. Jeez, talk about getting better with age.

The undercard to the last 2 WCW PPVs was actually OK, and showed promise of building people.
Watching at the time, you might have thought Shane Helms and Jason Jett both had a bright future ahead of them

He had a great move where he flips over the top rope into the ring and hits a clothesline as he lands on his feet. He uses it in his match against Kid Kash on the latest ECW DVD set (Unreleased Vol.3?). His release Orange Crush Bomb was also pretty good.

I learned that so many wrestlers got their start as jobbers on Raw: Mike Bucci, Rhino, Big Vito, Johnny Swinger, The Hardys (Jeff actually wrestled his 1st match as Keith David), Headbanger Thrasher, among others.

On Bill Goldberg's first night.... Hector Garza pinned Scott Hall.
They should given them simultaneous streaks. I think garza was undefeated too

It's this thing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkAoF5qp7Gothat theme is horrible. wow. other fun things from that segment: at least like three people in the crowd had laser pointers. i'm glad that fad died out with the monday night wars. props to al snow and british bulldog for being able to mostly ignore them despite getting flashed in the eyes. also, al snow repeatedly calls the big bossman "ray" without any real explanation by anyone (i know its his real name, but someone could've said that. they repeatedly were pointing out bulldog's real name is davey, so why not give the full picture). bulldog just stands in the ring doing nothing for about 4 minutes while al and bulldog talk outside of the ring, then seems to attack bossman out of boredom. which is really what his whole comeback seemed to be. which is probably why it bombed so hard. then, in a lovely broadcasting moment, jerry lawler goes, "JR, you gotta turn your microphone on!" JR started in the ring interviewing bulldog. this implies to me at some point JR ran back to the announce booth and starting commentating, but forgot his mic was off. i really want to know how long he talked and what he said before king told him his mic wasn't on. terrible segment/great segment.

Fall of 1999 gets really confusing when "My Time" starts, and you don't know if you're getting mega-heel Triple H or gender-barrier smashing babyface Chyna. There's a similar issue with the old Ministry music being shared by The Acolytes and Mideon & Viscera, but The Acolytes get way more TV time anyway. When you watched Metal and the Ministry theme played, you knew you were getting Mideon

Stevie Richards is a really really good promo. This Right to Censor stuff is gold. RTC is one of my favourite heel stables of all time. One of the few times WWE has been given lemons and made the sweetest lemonade. 'We can't get away with our edgiest gimmicks any more? Well let's make THAT their gimmick.' Also the only time their preposterous pettiness worked out well. One of my favourite things is that they were heels that other heels hated. I remember at Royal Rumble 2001 JR wonders why a wrestler didn't help Val Venis eliminate someone and Lawler, still a heel, immediately responds 'nobody wants to help Val, or anyone in the Right To Censor.'

Yeah EVERYONE hated them, it was great.
