The more intriguing thing is, why is your lead heel running a gauntlet series like a plucky underdog babyface? The answer would walk out the door not long after this. I wouldn't say he exactly ran it like a plucky babyface. Chokeslam Challenge with Big Show was an obvious decisive loss. Inferno Match with Kane was won by distraction and interference by Undertaker, Mideon, and Viscera. Boiler Room Brawl was won with someone nailing Mankind as he was trying to dive on HHH. Brahma Bullrope Match had special ref British Bulldog doing the good old fashioned Russo Swerve and getting HHH his third victory. The only one that had HHH doing anything that could be construed as babyface tendencies was the Casket Match with Mideon and Viscera where Shane rules that he has to get both guys in a casket that he could barely get Mideon in. The real sign of Russo (and burnt out Russo at that) is the fact that they ran five gimmick matches in a two hour show, and it's not even the worst abuse of gimmick matches that week. No, that would come on Sunday with the Hell in a Cell (which was a guaranteed money match at this point) being pissed all over by the Kennel from Hell fiasco. Their first mistake was putting Bossman in the thing again. Didn't work out so great the first time, did it?

That they were still doing the Jeff Jarrett lip syncing story line with the Roadie AFTER JJ had gone back to WCW. I guess they were trying to bury him but it came off as yet another guy that was in WCW but the WWF was claiming to "have" on their roster via "The Real Jeff Jarrett".

Dark brooding Sting was in a movie in late 97. Why would you say that on Nitro?
He's supposed to have been crazy or whatever and broken.
And the Rick Rude on Nitro thing was in my hometown of Cincy. Nice. Should've stayed with DX bro. NWO was already bloated.
Though he left cause of the screw job it seems so I get it

april 12, 1999 raw. the undertaker and the ministry have kidnapped ryan shamrock. after shamrock threatens him with a baseball bat, undertaker reveals she is in the boiler room, and according to viscera, she's enjoying everything they're doing to her.
weird as f*** comment about how the undertaker kidnaps women for viscera to have sex with...or brilliant foreshadowing for the world's largest love machine?
speaking of love machine's, the next segment features the big bossman accepting the godfather's offer of prostitutes, but not until godfather seals the deal by pointing out "they know what to do with that night stick." even jerry lawler sounds a little bit shocked by that one at ringside, which i found particularly hilarious. big bossman then takes all five prostitutes for free for "the whole night!" aka about five minutes when they come back to celebrate with the godfather. also during this match, if i am not mistaken, for seemingly no reason, the crowd chants "nitro sucks!" which JR comments is interesting and speaks for itself, which makes lawler laugh.

january 26, 1998 nitro. the first 3 hour episode.
- jj dillon bans kevin nash/everyone (but mostly kevin nash) from using the powerbomb. on commentary, the team notes this isn't unprecedented. tony notes piledrivers have been banned. bobby heenan notes wrestling outside the ring had been banned. then larry zbyszko says that ted dibiase's father died in the ring because of moves like that. i guess there's some truth in that.
- there is the first ever nitro party contest winner on this episode, and it looks just awful. i mean, in terms of a wrestling thing, i guess its fine for a frat party if you like that sorta thing, but that's all it is. gene okerlund is at least 35 years older than anyone else there, and he has no idea why he's there, but he's such a trooper he just tries to interview the kids, i'd say 95% of whom don't realize this is wrestling related. also, he asks kimberly how she likes dancing for the frat boys, and she says "i hate my job." its not that i blame her for saying that, and i feel like most women in her position would say that. but its SUCH a wcw move to broadcast it. they probably didn't even realize why that was such a bad thing for her to say. they air a total of three segments of this nothingness, and the only even vaguely wrestling related things are t-shirts, mean gene and the nitro girls. later kimberly is asked to judge a sting costume and she gives it a 2/10. she very clearly doesn't want to be there. the other girls at least accepted their jobs. again, not that i at all blame her.
- mike tenay interviews steve mcmichael about the superbowl, which was last night. he says he doesn't like or care about football anymore.
- kevin nash says if you would like to send him fan mail, send it to a van down by the river. chris farley died the month before. i wouldn't necessarily call it a tribute, but definitely a weird reference.
- wcw used to hold audio only internet ppvs in 1998. that sounds so awful.
- tony schiavone calls chavo guerrero, jr. eddie's brother. idk if that was briefly the gimmick (i don't think so) or just him being dumb (and this one couldn't be blamed on bischoff or anyone being in his ear).
- chris jericho receives a very classy "faggot" chant. they edit out his music, but not that.

Watching Raw & Nitro from 3/31/97 & 4/7/97, I learned that Bret Hart wrestled Rocky Maivia on Raw, that Raw had black & red ropes, that WCW had a Women's Cruiserweight Championship, that they spelled Konnan "Konan", Psicosis "Psycosis", called Ultimo Dragon, The Ultimate Dragon, & called Luger & The Giant World Tag Team Champions, when The Outsiders were actually champions.

uncensored 1999
bobby heenan on mikey whipwreck: wasn't he his parents little whipper-snapper? tony and mike laugh bobby: get it? tony: yeah, weren't all of us? bobby: no, i didn't know his parents.
all this seconds after someone in the crowd was loudly yelling "hit the whippersnapper on him, mikey!" mikey is way more over as a heel than i expected, especially for his debut. but then again, kidman is pretty darned over, too.
later, jericho let's out an audible "oh, f***" after saturn doesn't quite move out of the way for a moonsault causing his face to hit a dog collar

Triple H didn't win the 'King of Kings' match between himself, Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock. What he did do was shout out for Owen to put Shamrock in the sharpshooter while he was on the opposite side of the ring from them.
I forgot how much the crowd disliked the Brawl for All unless it was just people punching each other in the face.
