This is in regards to the IC title and how it was widely believed Daniel was going to bring back "prestige" to the IC title in the same way Cena was going to do with the US title. In the last few years the IC title has obviously taken a step back and the champions aren't generally booked weaker because they are champ (Hi Wade Barret).
Cody Rhodes was one of the last few guys to carry the IC title and it have a little meaning to it. Does he need a reign like Cody or Cena or could the Dean Ambrose reign work for him because of longevity? This could be a good reign for Ownes considering Cena does the weekly challenge and you would assume Owens gets into "regular feuds" revolved around the title. He calls himself the prize fighter so would like to see WWE glorify that in some instances where he would destroy some and be competitive against others akin to his NXT reign.

No, because WWE would be unwilling/unable to book him that way.

The issue lately with the Intercontinental Championship has been the plague of injuries surrounding the titleholder. So, barring any setback, Kevin Owens should avoid that trend. But to answer your question, I think that mostly everyone has faith in Owens' ability to bring that prestige back to the Intercontinental Championship. The issue is far more about how WWE officials perceive him backstage. Owens is probably caught in the middle of that backstage politicking between Triple H & Kevin Dunn so Owens would be the perfect "sacrificial lamb" so-to-speak for Dunn to prove his point that he deserves to be running the company (yeah, right) after Vince steps down.
But I've got no doubt in my mind that Owens will pull it off.

I've been here with Barrett, Ziggler, Big E and Harper, aside from Bryan's injury, in the last couple of years. I have next-to-no faith in an IC run being anything other than the first motion on outright career derailment.

Cesaro would be better as a face. Yeah I can see Cesaro talking about how the IC Title at its best always had some international flair to it. Pat Patterson, Pedro Morales, Bret Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero and so. How he is all of that wrapped up in fine Swiss packaging and how he is going to bring back that flair.

He'll mirror CM Punk's reign IMO.
He'll have it for a little while and drop it quietly to someone else.

It's less about the guy and more about how they treat him with it. Hell, Ryback coulda done something with it had they built it that way.
So, sure Owens can be; but it's doubtful he will.

Yes and no.
Yes, Owens has the talent.
But no, because WWE put this whole idea of bringing back prestige to the IC belt through the erratic logic of "People will care more about this title if Daniel Bryan has it" meaning they won't book it to be as big of a deal otherwise. The Fact that they felt that boosting the titles required the presence of the tippy top stars means that they're only highlighting the titles as a residual effect of Cena or Bryan's storylines. The IC Title's prestige depends on if Owens is treated as big of a deal as Cena or Bryan.

I could easily imagine The Authority screwing him over becuase he does not have the right look, so yeah I'm sure he could take Daniel Bryans place.
