So I work at a deli, and we have this thing called Lebanese bologna. It's $12.73 USD a pound. It smells really good! So a customer got some and I cut too much (unintentionally, I swear!), so I was faced with a dilemma. I either had to write off .02 lbs of this wonderful smelling meat, or eat it. So I ate it. It was its own punishment. Tasted like sweat socks and only got worse the longer I chewed it. I couldn't spit it out either as another customer came up and ordered. Worst. Pilfer. Ever.
So...what foods have you eaten-expecting goodness- only to be horrified?

Crocodile... to be fair I wasn't really expecting it to taste nice. I did expect it to have some flavour though rather than just been dry, chewy crap. It was like when chewing gum has lost all it's flavour.

That time I tried some wicked sweet steak and discovered that I had a wicked sweet allergy to something within that wicked sweet steak.

Ear wax.
Whose ear wax? Some things are best left unknown.

Maybe my grandpa's homemade wine. I think he just ferments grape juice he buys at the store. It's slightly better than vinegar and worse than the cheapest gut rot wine you could possibly buy.
I always have a glass with him anyway, he's proud of it.

Subways egg and sausage breakfast.
Tasteless garbage that's been sitting around for hours.

Truffle fries. I was eating them and thought "these can't be this bad! I have to be imagining this." I kept eating them because I couldn't believe something tasted that terrible. The only way I can describe them is like flavorless croutons that were wrapped in old bread.

A cricket. I was in grade school and we were doing some sort of special week where we each had to bring in some sort of ethnic food. This one girl brought in a tray of dried crickets and honey. We were all daring each other and I finally took a bite out of one. Remember it being very dry and feeling the legs as you chewed freaked me out.

They have really good texture, but that's about it. You have to get it flavored.

I've tried roasted meal worms, buffalo worms, crickets and grasshoppers. The bigger the insect, the tastier they were.

When I was really young, I once ate sand with bird poop in it.
