What's up with all this "Paige takes selfies, so she's a shitty person" nonsense I keep seeing?

Paige isn't wrong about it being stale. She is wrong for wanting to "shoot" more to spice it up.
It's just as shitty as it was a few weeks ago.

WWE have killed all kayfabe, so worked shoots are the really the only type of promo that makes any sense these days.

I love hearing Kofi talk about how Bubba is dating Velvet Sky and loves heavy metal music - it really makes me want to see them fight.

Doesn't Heyman use the term "shoot from the hip" every third promo then reveal some backstage news about Taker's health then says Brock is real while everyone else is a wannabe? Paul isn't the best example, lol.

Seriously the only person that seems to get shoot promos right is CM Punk. Usually when he shoots he's still in character and makes sense within the storyline or character motivations. It's not a "hahahaha im clever and desperately winking to the audience for a reaction" and more like I'm pissed off and here's why. When he shoots someone in burying them at least there is some kayfabe to it that makes sense.
Like Paige saying Nikki is only the divas champion and made it so far because who she is sleeping with doesn't make any sense kayfabely at all. In kayfabe Nikki was the champ for so long because she kept beating Paige and others in decisive finishes. A better shoot comment would be the only reason why Nikki is the star of Total Divas is because who she is dating because at least that makes sense or you can work an angle about it. It's like how when CM Punk buried Big Johnny Ace as a stupid corporate stooge so they bring up Johnny Ace as a dumb corporate stooge.
Like we didn't have CM Punk shooting the only reason why Cena is always the champ because Vince McMahon likes him the best, no that wouldn't make sense kayfabely. Instead it was shooting on how Cena is given all the opportunities because WWE views him as the top draw and he's sick of Cena acting like he's a underdog all the time when in reality he is the corporate favorite franchise whether he likes it or not hence why he's bitter and pissed. It was an angle that worked because the emotions felt real that goes all the way backstage but you still had workable storyline that kayfabe works.

Owens and Heyman fair just fine without shooting. Not entirely. Owens broke the fourth wall when he referred to Cena being less experienced than him in his first promo on RAW which exposed WWE's bubble. In the same sense they used to refer to Daniel Bryan as the rookie and Miz as the veteran despite Bryan having shitloads more wrestling experience than Miz. Heyman thrives because he exists outside the normal WWE bullshit simply by way of Brock being rarely seen. If Heyman was having to recite typical WWE promo material on a regular basis, he'd be stale too.

I never understand what they're trying to accomplish with "shoot" promos since all it ends up doing is exposing the fact that wrestling is scripted. I don't want to watch Arrow and be told that it's fake by one of the characters and I don't want that with wrestling either.

They go for the "ohhhhh" moments, rather than taking the time and making the effort to write compelling characters and storylines. The problem is that their kayfabe world is too illogical to base stories within. I ask the question time and again, why do faces bother pursuing titles sanctioned, organised and controlled by corrupt authority figures who will surely screw them over and could in theory simply strip them of their titles and name their preferred champions at will instead?

Vince & Co. can't even fix the mid card over on the men's side, did we ever really think the diva's division had a chance of getting it right?

The Revolution hasn't been all bad. Longer matches means I now have time to go to the bathroom AND make a sandwich during RAW.

Worked shoot 'pipe bombs', please go away forever, you are so played out. Glad to see I am not the only one bored of them.

Breaking the fourth wall can be done right in anything as long as the joke is overly obnoxious, way up its own ass, and it still makes within the story. The 21 Jump Street films and most of Community are good examples of that trend done right. It's something that's usually hard to write and like in wrestling you need a wrestler that understands how the concept works. Otherwise you end up with most of season 4 with Community or some of its other bad non season 4 episodes that go way overboard The Revolution hasn't been all bad. Longer matches means I now have time to go to the bathroom AND make a sandwich during RAW. Man you need a DVR. I seriously have no idea how people can watch Raw without one.

The show doesn't usually bother me that much. I just avoid the RAW thread while it's on, makes all the difference.

Even HHH and Stephanie break the fourth wall during RAW. In one segment, they are evil heels. In the next, they are visiting sick children. Stephanie's twitter says she merely plays a bad guy on TV, meanwhile the Bella twitter has them boasting about their in-ring victories. They are supposed to be heels, I guess, but they are constantly talking about being inspirational and heroic, and judging by the responses from some of their fans, they ARE.
It's all messed up, confusing, convoluted. No one knows what the hell they are supposed to be.
No wonder the product makes no logical sense.

It was a horrible promo that was badly delivered but I no longer feel annoyed at Paige since she's at least supposed to be hated now. Also she's kinda hot again.
