I'm a die-hard Yankees fan. So yeah. Anytime someone doubts my fandom, I reminisce upon the days of Steve Balboni, Alvaro Espinoza, Stump Merrill, et al.
I also hate most Yankee fans, who can only respond to criticism with "27 World Series, suck it!"
I'd like to add that I think I am more proud of this year's team than I have been any team in a long time. They were predicted to be mediocre at best, finishing out of contention. They were the opposite most of the season, and while they've backed into the playoffs, the fact that it wasn't supposed to happen made it sweeter.

I've met good and bad Yankees fans(which is true for all fanbases, and also I find Red Sox fans far more obnoxious), but since I am a Cubs fan and a lot of Cardinals fans are in this thread your post actually sums up my feelings towards the Cardinals. Of course the Cubs are jealous of the Cardinals success and that is always going to cause animosity. But the problems is, most Cardinals fan act like the Yankees fans you hate. They spew out 1908 and Bartman over and over again. Most Cardinals fans are known for having ZERO knowledge of baseball outside of their own team, you can't have a baseball conversation with a Cardinals fan without it involving their own team. Even if I don't like you team, I can have a baseball conversation with any fan, as long as they are reasonable people. I have been to Cubs/Cards games and Cubs/White Sox games, Cubs lost both games by the way. The White Sox, not known for having the classiest fans, chanted "Let's go White Sox!" to rub in the win, which got drowned out by boos from the Cubs fan. Basically it was a fun rivalry game with trash talking, but nothing more than that. The Cardinals game ended in a much worse fashion. First, the "classiest fans in baseball" chanted 1908, then brawls erupted in the bleachers. Even before the game, they were acting like they owned the place talking about urinating on Wrigley Field, just basically acting like scum. I have encountered fans from ever other team in the division and none of them act anywhere near as disrespectful as the Cardinals fan. I am sure some Cardinals fans will say, "The Cubs fan probably started the fights", well if you go to any away game and act like a complete jerk you run a pretty good chance of getting punched in the face.

Being a Yankees fan, you learn of a long tradition of hatred from the other 29 clubs and fans of other sports.
Not our fault we were so damn good.

Being a Yankees fan, you learn of a long tradition of hatred from the other 29 clubs and fans of other sports. Not our fault we were so damn good. Well, owning Kansas City and using them as a big league farm team during a time when there were only about 10 AL clubs does create a bit of resentment...

I been to a lot of Cardinals vs. Cubs games over the years in St. Louis and I never seen that before. I always I guess end up sitting with the classy side of things but I have seen Cubs fans say a lot of bad things to the Cardinals for the stands here. It is a two way street because there will be scum as well as classy and I believe it like that for all rivals.
