Did anyone else here grow up with this toyline? They were miniture playsets that could fit in your hand when closed and would resemble some sort of monster. Then when it was opened it became a setting where you could play with these tiny figures. You'd aways get a Max figure and a couple of monsters. I absolutely loved these, and I also remember Star Wars had a similar series of toys like this. But the cool thing about MM was that it basically took from every horror genre available from sci-fi, to fantasy, to more traditional stories such as Frankenstein's monster and curse of the mummy. Later on they got more creative with their playsets, turning them into larger scale action figures that would open up. Though, IMO these were less dynamic playsets than the traditional ones. The toyline also had a cartoon spinoff as was the fashion at the time, though I don't really remember too much of it. But man, I thought these things were so cool.

I don't think I had too many of the toys, but I LOVED the show.
My parents are moving from my childhood home and still had ALL of my toys. I didn't keep too many of them, as I just don't have the space, but I did rescue about 20 Z-Bots.
Ugh...it just ocurred to me that I didn't ask them to save the Turtles toys. I had the van, the sewer, the technodrome...the works.

I think Mattel's UK wing meant for it to be a boy-targeted answer to their Polly Pocket line, except with fantasy stuff inside instead of a domestic setting.
I did have one of them as a kid but I was more into the TV show. I remember enjoying it but I always felt Rob Paulsen made Max sound older than he actually was.

The cartoon was pretty damn awesome. Probably the best cartoon ever made to never get a DVD release. I don't think it's available to watch online anywhere either (well, legally anyways).

I remember the cartoon as well. Star Wars did a bunch of these with their Micro Machine line, and I had so many of them.

I still have a few of them, my favorite being the giant skull mountain playset! I got that for Christmas one year. Needless to say I was a happy boy. Holy cow, I had that exact playset. I remember the cartoon as well. Star Wars did a bunch of these with their Micro Machine line, and I had so many of them. The Stromtrooper Death Star one was probably my favourite. I loved how they included the trash compactor that you could open and shut.

In fact I had the snake one as well. Loved them.

I was a pretty big fan of both the toys and show. I have been wanting to revisit it for a while now.

My brother had loads of these, including the pictured one and skull mountain! He used to borrow one of my Polly Pocket figures to be the kidnapped princess

This was essential to me as a child. I collected the early ones, then when the show kicked in, they modified the Max toys a bit more to reflect the series, and then added in Virgil and Norman.
Had loads of the big playsets. I would enact my own "series" with Max having recurring adventures in all the playsets I had, then I would have "Christmas Specials" where he went to one of the bigger playsets (mainly because I got them on Christmas day). I stopped collecting around the time I got the Dread Star space ship. I used the interior of that for a Power Rangers monster at one point.
The cartoon was amazing. A very risky show at the time with very dark content. It used to air on CBBC.

I never watched the cartoon but I had several of the play sets. I even had the big rock monster one. My sister got the Polly Pocket sets.

I won't lie....I actually wanted a Polly Pocket set just so I could have Max living a domestic life in his adult years.

The only thing closest to a toy was when I got one as a McDonald's Happy Meal toy. Although Mattel manufactured those toys that McDonald's gave out, it still didn't feel like the real thing.
However, I thought the cartoon was awesome. I used to watch that all the time.

Loved the ending, darkest thing on Kids TV. spoilers for a show that ended like 20 years ago:P {Spoiler}Wasn't the ending of the show a time loop? It's been years since I watched but I vaguely remember something like the end of the last episode set up the start of the first
