He'll be there by the end of the week, sadly...

Honestly, if Cena takes time off, he should just take the belt with him. Let's be honest. If Cena loses the U.S. Title, even if he loses it CLEANLY, the title is going to go back to being an afterthought. And Cena leaving gives WWE too much room to possibly have him return and jump into a random program with whomever and not even care about the U.S. Title. Cena should just take the title with him, and then have him come back without it while he is quietly declared "The Final United States Champion" And hopefully this will leave a void to introduce a title that the real midcarders can actually have a real shot at winning. Why can't that be the US title though? Why not let Cena's two runs give an almost long term credibility bump that would help a Fandango winning in the future? Not sure what point there is getting rid of one belt to make another for the same reason. It seems a waste of time and effort. Not to mention a new belt gets hype so hits US title levels anyway and opens up "grand slam" guys wantingbl to win it to extend their records. It wouldn't help lower guys at all. Or hell, if you want a lower midcard title (and I absolutely do) why not go with the one presently held by the guy coming off of soundly getting his ass kicked by the guy holding the US one? Just demote the Intercontinental title, it's basically meaningless anyway.

I'd prefer the US title drop as the idea of a champ of America meaning more than multiple continents is ludicrous but that's the idea. There is no point killing one then inventing a TV title or something.

Getting rid of one belt just to reintroduce another doesn't really make much sense.

Can you imagine the shit storm that would take place if someone like Slater, Bo, Fandango or Riley took the IC belt off of Owens?

Well, one, the forum's reaction is basically irrelevant to that, and two, have it not be clean or have Owens lose it to someone else who then loses it to someone like Slater, either way works.

Let Owens hold both belts and unify them as the IC title, then break HTM's IC record.
Cena can come back and do the storyline where he equals Flair's record of world title wins. It's coming sooner or later. May as well happen.

You could also work toward building one of those guys to be credible. It's not real, so no one has to be stuck in Loserville.

Maybe he actually got hurt a little against Owens the other week and just delayed his recovery period to finish up his matches with Rollins

"Time off" for Cena is like an hour for lunch instead of half an hour.

John Cena finally saw the finale of Total Diva's and he's taking time off to finally go through his Machiavellian plan of continuing to cuckold and sexually humiliate Dolph Ziggler yet again.

There is only one man who can come in and defeat Cena to send him away and become new WWE Champion. {Spoiler}

Apparently Cena is telling people that he is not injured, is not getting married and whatever it is will have people happy for him when it gets out.

Sounds the most plausible to me. I'm kind of surprised he hasn't hit it big in Hollywood earlier. Not that I think he's the best actor in the world but he's got a very commanding, distinct presence and seems like he'd be super-easy to work with in that capacity.

Maybe Nikki Bella decided to choose Dolph Ziggler and Cena is taking time off to cure a broken heart. Will Cena overcome the odds of a broken heart? Find out next season on Total Diva's.

Even though there was the interview today...if it's "not injured", "not getting married", "it'll have people happy when it gets out"... ...Daniel Bryan's secretly been cleared and Cena's taking the time off to help train him to get the ring rust off?
