Woody Strode is best know for being an actor but he did wrestle for a short time. He also played for the Rams in 1946.

The topic is kind of a loaded question, but some of the answers are really more wrestlers who played in another sport rather than were successful in them. Regarding Kurt Angle, while their is a huge difference between professional wrestling and amateur wrestling, I'm hesitant to include amateur wrestlers, because their is enough overlap that it's the same sport in my opinion.

Dennis "Rod the Bod" Rodman, who was already a basketball legend by the time he joined the nWo.

The topic is kind of a loaded question Is it? There's nothing controversial about it, it's up to subjective opinion on how to answer and I'm enjoying people's different posts, not like anyone's arguing hotly here! It's just about finding information really that's interesting.

Ring of Honor Wrestler Moose (Quinn Ojinnaka) used to be an Offensive Lineman in the NFL. He played for the Falcons, Patriots, Colts and Rams during his 7 year career in the NFL.

Bronko Nagurski - football Mr. Perfect - every sport! Randy Savage might be the most successful baseball player? Not really because Savage didn't really make it out of the minors. Had he been like he played on a World Series team, won a batting title, or an MVP then yeah more successful or at less played a few seasons on a MLB team. The thread is about people who where in other sports and where more successful in that sport then they where in wrestling or was considered successful in that sport equally. Kurt Angle Olympic Gold Metallist and in the Amateur Wrestling hall of Fame is a very good example. Brock Lesnar UFC champion as well in NCAA Division 1 Champion in Wrestling is considered him being very good in both.

Well kind of, the aim was more to go through each sport and see what wrestlers succeeded most in each, not that those careers were better than their wrestling career (as I said in the OP it was kind of hard to explain!). So for example even if Savage didnt make it out of the minors he would still be no.1 by default if no other wrestler made it to a higher level of baseball.

The only way it actually overlaps, is in the way that amateur wrestlers tend to be very athletic. Though, even that isn't a prerequisite for being a pro wrestler.

Guys...Joe Louis. Joe. Louis. While true I only get sad when associating Joe Louis and wrestling.

Just going off "success," I have to say LT for being the best player on the field for two Super Bowls and headlining Wrestlemania. Those are pretty much the highest points in both wrestling and outside sports when you get down to money, exposure, and accolades.
