Rusev is an upgrade on countless 'Russian' baddies from the 70s/80s, he's awesome in the ring and really good on the mic but can thank Lana the most for really helping him stand out in a gimmick that had been done so many times before.

Evolution were the Horsemen done right. DX was the nWo done right. I'm not sure if you're serious, so I'll assume so as there's nothing to indicate it's intended as a joke. The Horsemen did the job that a heel faction is supposed to, make people want to pay to see them get beat while Evolution did not. Evolution did not make stars from those around them, they went over them while ratings and buyrates declined, all for the glory of Hunter. DX failed as a main event group, the Shawn and Hunter incarnation did not turn the tide against WCW, the tide finally turned while the group was a midcard novelty while Vince and Austin were the people the audience were actually paying to see. The NWO as a main event group cemented WCW as the #1 promotion and transformed them into a company that could actually run houseshows again, while egos destroyed them toward the end, they had a hell of a run and were a big part of WCW becoming so compelling.

Val Venis was a better version of that bell ringing tag team. Val Venis was Ravishing Rick Rude done wrong. If you mean "because he's the good guy despite being a womanizer because Attitude Era."

He was kind of a corny version of Rick Rude. Rick Rude had his catchphrase when un robing. Val would have some quirky one liner before removing his towel.

Have to disagree to a degree. Ivan Koloff in his prime and Nikita during his brief peak years did the gimmick itself much, much better.

I never really saw nWo and DX as the same gimmicks, other than the parralells of the Monday Night War and them having former Kliq members in each group.

Controversial opinion maybe, but I liked Kozlov more than Rusev.

Volkoff was a bit iffy to me. While he had near-legit pedigree, by the time he took up an actual Russian gimmick, he had so much mileage on him already.
