With the Cubs back in the playoffs. Made me think about this crazy event. What did you think about it when it happen? I always blame Alou and Gonzalez. they didn't lose that game because of a fan

I remember the ESPN Special "8 Reasons You can't blame Steve Bartman." And they made a valid point like the whole Bill Buckner ordeal:
There was still a Game 7.

No one brings up Bernie Mac was singing "Give it up for the CHAMPS!" during the seven inning stretch, which if anything, was the true jinx of the game...

I remember the ESPN Special "8 Reasons You can't blame Steve Bartman." And they made a valid point like the whole Bill Buckner ordeal: There was still a Game 7. There number 1 was 100% the truth, the Marlins were the better team. Once Jack McKeon took over the team, they got on fire and never looked back. Had the Cubs somehow beat the Marlins, they would have been beat down by the Yankees. Both Wood and Prior were starting to develop arms that were basically Jello, thanks to Baker overusing them, the Yankees would have teed off on them.

It's just the shitty ass Cubs being the shitty ass Cubs.
It's why they entire organization has been a joke for decades.

I don't think I ever cried harder than after that collapse. Probably the worst night I ever had as a Cubs fan.
But I never blamed Steve Bartman. Anyone who did was either really stupid, looking for a scapegoat, or just caught up in the moment. But If Alou didn't act like a complete cry baby, and if Alex Gonzalez did was he was supposed to do and get a double play, they would have won that game. But still, worst night of me being a sports fan.

It also showed what a whiny little shit Moises Alou was.
I'm surprised he didn't fall on his back and kick his legs with the tantrum he threw after that foul ball.

I always look back to that postseason only because of the "What If" scenario. The Cubs were in the NL Finals. The Red Sox were in the AL Finals. Could you have just imagined the frenzy/madness of a Red Sox/Cubs World Series? The Battle of the Curses. Something the networks would salivate over. A series that would have everyone in America interested just to see what curse ends and what curse lives on. But alas... anyway, back on topic.
Regarding Bartman, that poor SOB. Fans wanted a scapegoat and oh how they scapegoated. Never mind Alou kicking and screaming like a baby on a catch he probably wouldn't have made. Never mind Dusty Baker (Cubs Manager at the time) failing to call time so he could calm down Alou and get the team focused. Never mind Gonzalez failing on his job and not making the double play that would have ended the Marlins run. Oh and never mind that there was still a F'N Game 7! AT HOME NO LESS!! Yeah, let's blame the poor fan and ruin his life because he "cost us the series". Screw any Cubs fan that blamed him instead of the real culprits.

In that game 6 never did understand how Gonzalez escape blame Gonzales was mostly to blame for the game 6 loss however the Cubs fans are to blame for the game 7 loss. They had so much negativity it rubbed off on the Cubs players.

Don't worry Steve, cubs in the playoffs? Yep by this time next month Chicago will have some other person or event to blame their losses on
The 2003 MLB playoffs. Red Sox/Cubs possible world series that did not happen is proof MLB is on the level. No conspiracy there. As previously mentioned, networks would shit themselves at this match up. But it didn't happen. No fix. Instead we got a fair weather franchise vs a monster but the fair weather team won. Horrible match up I did not watch a single inning of

In that game 6 never did understand how Gonzalez escape blame For many Cubs fans he didn't, just the national media. Also Dustbag for failing to go out and calm the team down.

As a Yankees fan, f*** the 2003 Florida Marlins.
And if the 2003 World Series was Sox/Cubs.....my god the insanity. All of the bad juju might have somehow made the World Series end in a tie screwing both teams.
