Always annoys me when the wrestler walks at a snails pace towards the door rather than running. Yeah, I get tha they're hurt... but 30 secnds later they're running to hit a clothesline or something which expends just as much energy as running towards the door. They'd be much more enjoyable if the door was locked and they could only escape by climbing over the top.

I get why the door is there, but it should either be locked or otherwise used a little less predictably.

My least favourite part of cage matches is when the opponent is basically lying flat on their backs in the ring, totally out of it after taking a finisher or power move. Then the other guy basically takes forever to climb the cage. The opponent, who seconds ago was out for the count, then suddenly is miraculously able to get up and sprint up the cage with the greatest of ease to catch them. I mean it just looks stupid.

I hate the whole concept of escaping full stop. I get that wrestlers are supposed to be able to react more quickly when being pinned, but I just can't buy the idea that escaping is easier than pinning an opponent.

Yeah, I hate that spot too. I also hate when a guy gets to the top of the cage quickly but takes an age to swing his legs over the other side. In general I just don't like cage matches to be fair.

I hate the "escape the cage" rule entirely.
The entire point of a cage match is to keep the guys in the ring, and everyone else out. Running away from the fight shouldn't even be an option.

I don't mind escape rules, but not with a god damn door.
If you are good enough to neutralize your opponent to climb over the cage and reach the arena floor, that's a pretty decisive win. But not if you just walk out of a damn door.

I'm ok with them but the escape aspect is dumb, just redo NWO 05 and put barb wire on the top of the cage to stop escape and keep the door barred and make it pinfall

I am fine with escape, door even, but I do wish we had more cage matches with pinning or submission as an option, since it isn't the default. I did find it hilarious when Jericho won one against the Hart Dynasty because Smith was an idiot, escaping and leaving Kidd alone with Jericho, who forced him to submit to a Lion Tamer. Smith could have simply just pinned him with Kidd.

Cena and Rollins wandering around trying to get to the door was too much at times. It's like they want us to think there is an invisible force blocking the door.

I'd like escape only, Summerslam 94 style, and no door. It does allow for some creative spots and some drama, but it makes the attempt to climb out, rather than simply walk out a f***ing door, look silly. I think the thought is "its easier to get caught walking out the door than climbing out", but it doesn't really hold up.

I like that there's escape and pin/submit but the door really kills it. If you have the strength to climb the cage, why can't you just walk out of the damn door?

I like the escape option. Escaping is harder than pinfall, since no one climbs the cage in under 3 seconds, so to me it shows that you have to beat them down more than usual.
I hate the door though. Stupid rule.

Stupid rule. Escaping isn't necessarily harder though. Kicking out takes a lot less effort than climbing the cage and grabbing the guy does. But in the WWE, climbing out takes a good 3 or so minutes, with all the catching of the breath that they must do on the way up, followed by the obligatory 60 second sit in at the top of the cage as they try to figure out how to move their leg. This gives the opponent a lot more time to regain themselves following a finisher and demonstrate that they can make that climb in under 10 seconds.

I agree with all the crtisim of WWE cage matches, but I have to give credit for that spot, last night, where Rollins was trying to escape from the top while Cena tried to escape first from the door with Rollins kicking the door in Cena's face. Another example of smart wrestlers using WWE's stupidity to their advantage.

It should be either pinfall or escape over the cage. Nothing else should apply.
And escape should be accepted mostly from heels. I hate when faces win by escaping.

I just wish more cage matches were like Owen vs. Bret. The only cage match when Owen would actually sprint to climb the cage fast and Bret would have to react fast. That was a fun fast paced exciting match

I don't know why we bother with cage matches when THE DEMON KANE can just come up through the bottom of the ring.
