Now is the time for O Magazine to take up the slack. Oprah's already the permanent covergirl.

Maxim called from 15 years ago to tell Playboy they're stealing their gimmick. They start the conversation with "I only have so many minutes, so I'll keep this short". haha. "I'll call you back after 5pm. My nights&weekend mins are unlimited."

In an age where literally billions of images of naked women, enough to easily match anyone's specific preferences, are available with just a few simple clicks of an internet browser, are there honestly people who are still buying nudie magazines? And if so: why? Doomsday Preppers. Hi I'm Hugh and I'm prepping for a world where we can't access internet porn. My stash of magazines will will make me the most powerful man in the apocalyptic wasteland.

Taking marketing cues from Non-alcoholic Duff. Even if the articles are good, it doesn't work in waiting rooms because it was known as THE nudie mag. Reinventing gimmicks does crap when you become yet another version of magazines already out there. Yeah, I think this is the flaw in their cunning plan. They may not be nude any more but Playboy was THE nude magazine for decades.

well, I could see why porno mags are kinda obsolete now with the internet, this is like Burger King dropping the Whopper from its menu

And if so: why? For the articles naturally. Not buying it but Playboy at least attracted celebrities to pose nude that would otherwise not. So there was value in that, I guess (they air brush their women so much that they all basically look the same anyway).

I hadn't thought about this before, but I'm surprised it took this long to finally move away from nude photos.

So is the network going to follow suit and end up on basic cable?

Look on the bright side, now people don't have to worry about pages sticking. "It's frozen!"

Okay, so Playboy will no longer feature nude pictorials in their print magazine. But they're still serializing Lenny Bruce's autobiography, right?

I understand the rationale of wanting to go totally mainstream to be more like GQ or Maxim but I think Playboy's brand of tasteful, well-done nudity still has it's place.

I mean, interesting articles about a wide variety of subjects are also available for free online as well. My guess is people still buying Playboy buy it for the nudes and the articles.
