I guess because of how it happened. Lana isn't back from her injury yet, so the storyline seems fragmented because of it. And it will probably continue to until she's healed enough to be back on TV.

We'll rejoice when it for sure happens, I guess.

Ding dong, this feud is dead!
Until Summer allies with a jilted Dolph Ziggler to get revenge on Rusev.
...shit.

It's strange how they are seemingly still being booked as heels. Commentators and on the preshow they were mostly blaming Lana and Rusev for following their hearts.

I have a feeling that they are going g to bury the shit out of both Rusev and Lana over this. Making their engagement public in the middle of a storyline is ill-advised when an engagement was part of the storyline.
I wouldn't want to be Rusev & Lana right now.

It should've been saved for WrestleMania. Rusev and Lana could have rehashed the reunion of Randy Savage and Elizabeth!

I think it is deeply strange how WWE have had such a knee jerk reaction to this news and ended the angle. It is even more ridiculous if they are punishing Rusev for it- which it certainly felt like.
WWE's top male babyface is openly dating the top heel female, which has been acknowledged on Raw several times. How exactly is this any different?
This is the equivalent of the Friends producers freaking out when Brad Pitt guest starred and having Rachel announce to Ross that they were married (at the time they were at least!)
We understand they are actors playing characters who have separate real lives. Why can't WWE? It makes absolutely no sense and is so breath taking in how inconsistently their "rules" are applied.

Kayfabe may be pretty much dead, but not so dead that things like this don't come off awkward and ruin the illusion.

Personally I look forward to WWE breaking up Lana and Rusev on-screen when Rusev decides to check out her entry on Wikipedia and finds that she's been lying to him all this time and is actually an American called CJ Perry.
Something like that makes about as much sense to me as torpedoing your angle, one already ignoring real relationships, because of a TMZ article.

Kayfabe may be pretty much dead, but not so dead that things like this don't come off awkward and ruin the illusion. The whole idea of any TV show is that it's real. The WWE is no different. The only thing that is different is at no point in Breaking Bad does Walter White wink at the camera and say "Im only an actor! Haha, I don't really deal drugs!" Whereas we have Stephanie playing an evil character but are constantly reminded on the same TV show that she's supposed to be such a wonderful and nice person off-screen. They need to stick to kayfabe like every other so does so much better. If you don't like the idea of your wrestlers using Twitter then stop promoting it on TV too. Bryan Cranston doesn't Tweet about how him, Skylar and Walt Jr are having a great time so why do we need to see Ziggler pretending to be dating Lana in real life. It's so stupid how they care so much about kayfabe online yet constantly break it on screen. Also Vince McMahon needs to grow up.

So, they should keep one of the biggest decisions they've ever made in their lives under wraps for the sake of oudated carny traditions that only fool five year-olds? WWE decided to break them up on-screen when people knew they were living together, and it's WWE who decided that their real life engagement meant that the story line had to be abruptly taken out back and shot. Nothing ruins the illusion harder than arbitrarily letting real life write the plot at inconsistent points.

It is a different world, but afforded them an awesome life traveling the globe? Pro wrestling is pro wrestling and they are fully aware how things operate. They enjoy that life and want to become more successful? Don't plaster your engagement all over social media and have it end up on freaking TMZ when you are in the middle of an angle where you hate each other. Everyone has to make sacrifices in life. Suck it up. Wait until this angle is over to get engaged. That just seems like common sense.

I think it was done in a really dumb way(though I liked Summer's promo). Everyone knows that WWE isn't real so why even acknowledge the fact that they're engaged if it hampers your storyline? They could of easily ignored it in my opinion

Trying to hold to long dead kayfabe with off camera stuff is just kinda corny and stupid.
Everyone knows you suspend disbelief with what's on-screen; beyond that, it's silly to try and hold to that. It's an outdated relic. That genie hasbeen outta the bottle for decades
