The matches are good and it's fun to see them but maybe i'm mistaken in thinking we never really got a explanation on how Superstars are chosen for these matches against Cena. Of course it's "want some come get some" approach but if the thing is to have Cena hold the title for a while shouldn't time be used wisely.
Featuring one guy weekly is good for that week but I would like to think can do a bit better variation. The Heath Slater way of going about it is funny in terms of continuation and def would like to see a similar approach. Using Heath Slater for example could talk how people don't take him seriously and he wants to prove himself so he climbs the ladder.
There is a lot of time to fill every week and these little subplots could help the roster as whole and give the title more meaning along with Cena giving his points in every week and being that true blue fighting champion.
What are your thoughts?

I don't mind it, but i think they need To stop wasting "big" matches like the one with Ziggler on free TV. Those need to be saved for PPVs. The open challenge should be used to give the lower card guys time to shine and let them look good in defeat against Cena. We need more matches like the one he had with Ryder.

I usually enjoy the matches but they overdo things to a ridiculous degree. Kicking out of stuff left, right and centre. A top-rope ddt should be a finish!

The thing is that this is what both WWE and the indies have conditioned people to believe a "good" match is. If Heath Slater finally gets his match with Cena and gets to kick out of a top rope DDT, it makes him look better.

Not every title match on TV has to be a kickout fest. Keep it simple while showing the opposition is tough, Cena shouldn't have to break out 3 AA's like we are at X-7 again.

It's the only match that kind of matters.

Cena needs to kick out of people's big moves. It's how he feeds.

Jack Swagger despite being used on TV less is "a step above Ryder" in terms of kayfabe credibility. Ziggler is presented as one of the "top" stars of the show behind Cena, Local Men, Shield, Orton and Bray Wyatt.

It's the only match that kind of matters. Unfortunately, this is true. They put all their eggs in this basket week in and out. It's got all the intrigue they need to keep viewers on their toes: "Big Match John fighting random opponents for his title? I wonder what the Challenger will bring to the table! Will they be too much for Cena? It's not likely, but anything can happen!"

He doesn't need to but it's welcome. What he definitely needs to do is stop kicking out of guys finishers every week.

The thing is that this is what both WWE and the indies have conditioned people to believe a "good" match is. And there Davey Richards American strong style no sell supermove wrestling style.
