What are trades you heard of either as rumors or basically trades that fell apart at the last minute that just broke your heart.
I know the Chris Paul to the Lakers trade is up there.
One personal one for me was in 2004, a rumored Vince Carter for Ray Allen trade. We would've sent out that whiner and baby who gave up on his team for a Ray Allen that still had plenty of mileage left. Put Ray Allen with a developing Chris Bosh and we would've been left in great shape instead of trading for the corpse of Alonzo Mourning and two other SCRUBS.

The Tyson Chandler to OKC veto is a sneaky candidate. I think it was over his surgically repaired foot.

Not necessarily my team, but the Detroit Red Wings were insanely close to trading away Steve Yzerman back in 1995 to the Ottawa Senators for Alexei Yashin and some other pieces. If that trade went through, I doubt the Red Wings have even one of the Stanley Cups they've won since 1997.

Following on from the 1978 World Cup Tottenham Hotspur signed the Argentine duo Ossie Ardilles and Ricky Villa, and in the process sparked a wave of clubs buying in players from the South American country. One of those that attempted to do so was Sheffield United, who agreed a deal to sign a young 17 year old striker who was impressing for Boca Juniors. A deal was agreed for £200,000 for the player, but despite their best efforts the club was unable to raise the money and the deal fell through. The player in question...
Diego Maradona.

The biggest for both sides of the coin- positive and negative, for Red Sox fans:
2004. Manny Ramirez to the Texas Rangers for Alex Rodriguez, with the added agreement the second that the trade's official, Nomar Garciaparra would be traded to the Chicago White Sox for Magglio Ordonez.
Double whammy- a negative because it's clear if the Manny for A-Rod trade goes down, the Red Sox likely lose the 2004 World Series...and also a positive because the very rumor of Nomar being traded to the White Sox killed his morale into the season, leading to him sulking long enough that the Red Sox could get away with trading him at the deadline, getting the defensive prowess needed to win it all.

Yankees had a deal to send Andy Pettitte to los Angeles in 1995. Deal fell through when he pitched badly in a spring training game.
Manny Ramirez for Giancarlo Stanton.
