Still too mush bad blood between them Is there really any evidence of this? There's all the stories about Mallon becoming terrible to work with, but there've been plenty of times when the old crew members have done things like conventions and whatnot with one another, and plenty of times when many combinations of them have worked together. There's not a ton of reasons for Mike, Bill, and Kevin to get involved given how well Rifftrax is going for them, but that's not indicative of bad blood. Josh has said before he won't work for Joel anymore And the only ones that is making any money off MST3k is Joel and Jim

As big as the reboot news is, it's kind of overshadowing this, which is huge MST3K news as well:
SHOUT! FACTORY ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF CULT HIT COMEDY SERIES MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 THIS LANDMARK DEAL GRANTS SHOUT! FACTORY PROPRIETARY RIGHTS TO RENOWNED MST3K SERIES Los Angeles, CA – November 10, 2015 – Shout! Factory, a multi-platform media company, has acquired the long-running cult comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) from Best Brains, Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Shout! Factory now owns proprietary rights to MST3K, including all brand assets and global intellectual property. This announcement was made by Shout! Factory’s founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos. Shout! Factory plans to support the MST3K brand with a long-term growth strategy that entails new content development, digital media initiatives, live events, merchandise licensing programs, and content syndication to international territories. Shout! Factory is partnering with original series creator and writer Joel Hodgson and his company, Alternaversal, LLC, who will work together on future MST3K endeavors. “Mystery Science Theater 3000 is a true cult-classic comedy series that continues to attract fans till this day. This is a momentous acquisition for us. We’ve been pursuing this deal for many years, and we’re thrilled that it’s finally coming to fruition,” stated Shout! Factory’s founders in a joint statement. “We see that there’s still tremendous untapped potential for the MST3K brand. We’re looking forward to the next phase of MST3K with Joel.” Joel Hodgson chimed in “I am thrilled to team with Shout! Factory – one of MST3K’s greatest supporters – to once again pick up the creative mantle. It’s been a long time coming and I feel ready for the show’s reboot and hopefully lots of new iterations in different media. I’m also looking forward to working with both creative pros and the loyal fan base who have been inspired by our humble show over the years.” He added, “Actually, I’m not sure if there really is such a thing as a humble show. Let me check on that.” “Fans of MST3K can celebrate as Shout! Factory begins a new MST3K adventure with the Crow, Tom Servo, and Gypsy reuniting with Joel Hodgson. Shout! Factory is perfectly placed for this next chapter as they have been our partner and excellent stewards of MST3K for the past 7 years,” said Jim Mallon, president of Best Brains. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 acquisition follows Shout! Factory’s home entertainment, digital and VOD distribution endeavors for MST3K branded content since 2008, which demonstrates the company’s unique ability to identify, reinvigorate and expand the financial potential of quality entertainment content, and to create additional long-term value for pop-culture brands. Previously, MST3K and Shout! Factory shared a long-standing relationship dating back to Shout founders’ days at Rhino. Created by Joel Hodgson and produced by Jim Mallon, Mystery Science Theater 3000’s first season aired on KTMA-TV in Minneapolis. Its national broadcast life began in 1989 on the Comedy Channel (later to become Comedy Central), where it ran for seven seasons. The show’s final three seasons aired on the Sci-Fi Channel. Series creator Hodgson originally played stranded host, Joel Robinson. When he left in 1993, series head writer Mike Nelson replaced him as the new B-movie victim, and continued in the role for the rest of the show’s run. The format proved to be popular, and during its eleven years and 198 episodes (including one feature film), Mystery Science Theater 3000 attained a loyal fan base and critical acclaim. The series won a Peabody Award in 1993, and was nominated for writing Emmys® in 1994 and 1995. The deal was negotiated by Shout’s David McIntosh for Shout! Factory. About Shout! Factory Shout! Factory, LLC is a diversified multi-platform media company devoted to producing, uncovering, preserving and revitalizing the very best of pop culture. Founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos have spent their entire careers sharing their music, television and film favorites with discerning consumers the world over. Shout! Factory’s entertainment offerings serve up feature films, classic and contemporary TV series, animation, live music and comedy specials. In addition, Shout! Factory maintains a vast digital distribution network which delivers video and audio content to all the leading digital service providers in North America. Shout! Factory also owns and operates Scream Factory, Timeless Media Group, Westchester Films, Biograph Records, and Video Time Machine. These riches are the result of a creative acquisition mandate that has established the company as a hotbed of cultural preservation and commercial reinvention. Shout! Factory is based in Santa Monica, California. For more on Shout! Factory, visit shoutfactory.com

I guess that means Jonah Ray, IDed as the guy sitting in the host seat in the video on Kickstarter, will be the host. I'm not at all familiar with him, any thoughts? He seems like a nice enough guy, but I don't find him funny at all. That's just my opinion, though.

No Mike involved?
Sorry, but he was the better host and the better writer. This is evident with how unfunny I found Cinematic Titantic to be.

I don't think there's any issues between Josh and Joel outside of Josh's following out with Jim Mallon and everyone in the early 90s, Josh was on Cinematic Titanic.
I don't know if there's any bad blood between MST3K alum, but I do think it's pretty clear from RiffTrax and Cinematic Titantic that there were factions. Mike, Bill, and Kevin were on one side with Joel, Trace, and Josh on the other, with Mary Jo and Frank joining them as well. The common connection between the later group seems to be a particular distaste for the way Jim Mallon did things.

its been confirmed no one but Joel is involved in this project. no writers, no Bill or Kevin.

Quote: I loved my time at MST, but I was in essence a hired gun. The brand does not belong to me, and I make and have made (almost) zero dollars off it since it stopped production in 1999. But HAPPILY -- I've spent nine years putting all my energies into RiffTrax (we now have created more tracks than we did in our time at MST!) and we have tons of exciting stuff coming up, including more live shows, more feature length stuff (including one of the finest films to ever feature an NES Power Glove), shorts, etc., etc. As a fan of riffing of all kinds I'm glad there's going to be more out there, but just wanted to give a fuller picture of why I'm not involved. Let me just close by saying how enormously grateful I am to be able to continue to work at something I love. So, thank you, all.

according to the AMA, much of the writing won't even be done with people who are in the same room.
That might be a mistake

Bunch of different interviews from years back This was the reason people were saying See, I always heard from Josh he left because he wanted the show to be all on-the-spot and didn't want to pre-write the riffs.

I liked Mike's time and Joel's time for different reasons. It makes sense, though, that if Kevin, Mike, and Bill are doing well with Rifftrax, that stepping away from it for something that they haven't had financial stake in for like 15 years wouldn't be in their best interest, compared to focusing on something that is their own baby.

I'm up for new MST3K. I mean the property was doing nothing for years and the mst3k crew are all getting older. The episodes will always be there. The Rifftrax guys are doing great at what they do. Give a new crew a shot at it... I will miss Kevin as Servo, but we've had change over before. At least fans can give them a shot at 3 episodes.
At $800,000 now. Not even one day old and we're almost 1/2 to new MST3K!

Trace was asked if he was involved in any way and said no. On top of that, he was then asked if he would at least be willing to do a cameo as Dr. Forester and replied "Sorry. That won't be happening."

The new Crow sounds better than the new Servo, but he'll probably at least sound less awkward than the first Servo, who is frankly jarring as hell.

Decided to pitch in on the Kickstarter, why not? MST3K is one of my favorite shows of all time and established so much of my comedic sensibility that I'll always be up for more.
