First thoughts were Cesaro or a New Day member. Ryback a viable option? Sort of guy Vince would love look of. I would love it to be can unexpected winner. Unfortunately I don't hold out much hope after recent Royal Rumbles

It ismore than vague to protect It is SOMEONE in the SCRIPTS can win the rumble. if it at least was "WWE grooming underused newcomer for a rumble win" or "WWE looking to have a surprising rumble win with new talent/unexpected veteran" would be a little more solid But that's still the same problem- and the last few years seemed to make it more solidified. With how many people the fans want at the same time, If the WWE announces or leaks who's in the plans to win the Rumble in the scripts- even if it's someone the fans would want originally, then the fans would riot because it's too predictable. No matter who it is- if it's Cesaro, the fans would say "Bu...but, DEAN AMBROSE! DOLPH ZIGGLER! KEVIN OWENS! SAMI ZAYN! THE NXT ROSTER! BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" and turn on him- and if it was one of them, they'd turn on everything else. If WWE is doing this, it might be time to just accept- the Royal Rumble dictating the Wrestlemania main event is obsolete, because no matter who wins the Rumble, it slammed the door shut for someone else main eventing Wrestlemania, and their fans will whine and complain and bitch and moan until the whole build is destroyed. Complete bullshit. The reason why fans turned on the Royal Rumbles the last two years wasn't as much the winner, but the circumstances surrounding the winner. 2014: Story starts with Daniel Bryan as the face against the Authority. Slowly, he put aide for Big Show and Cena, which makes sense because Bryan can't be the same guy the whole time. But, that here comes Batista out of the nowhere and wins it in a week of his return and they were going to do Batista vs. Randy Orton, a match that would have never worked if Batista was booed or not, it just was terrible all around. Hell, fans didn't turn on the match until they realized Bryan wasn't in it after Rey came out. Had Bryan came out number 30, lasted until the final two, fans wouldn't have been into it for the whole thing. Bryan was over like crazy around that time, to not even have him in the Rumble was a complete joke. And they had to book accordingly to fix that mistake they made. Jut imagine if Ultimate Warrior on the Royal Rumble in 1999 instead of Steve Austin, it would have been the same thing. 2015: This was just a mess all around. Roman Reigns getting injured, cooling down his overness significantly. He comes back, freezes on a promo, cuts Looney Tunes promo's, getting booed over Luke Harper, just looks like he's a completely different person all around from the "Big Dog" of the Shield. Daniel Bryan on the other hand, he comes back, still massively over, cuts a great promo, and announces he's in the Rumble. Everybody thinks, ok their going to have Bryan win the fan Lesnar for the belt he never lost. Nope, WWE says f*** Daniel Bryan and his fans, ONCE AGIAN, to so what they want, which is complete shit. You don't eliminate Bryan 10 minutes into the thing, you don't have it be down to Reigns/Show/Kane for Reigns to predictably overcome the odds. If it were Bryan, Ziggler, or Ambrose, against Reigns, fans would have been into it until the last second. They turned on the math because WWE made Daniel Bryan look like shit, and everyone else beside Roman Reigns looks like shit. They sent The Rock out there to play damage control and get Reigns cheered, and he got booed. Fans didn't like it because it was predictable, fan didn't like it because the matches were booked like shit all around. If it's Cesaro, Owens, Ambrose, Zayn, Ziggler, Wyatt, Rusev, any member of the New Days, hell even Brock Lesnar, fans will cheer. I guarantee it. If it's rumored that Sami Zayn is going to return and win the Rumble, than he does, he'll be cheered like crazy.

Unless this means Bayley wins the Rumble, I'll just put this under Rajah.

The "script" for the Royal Rumble probably exists solely in Vince's mind and won't be decided until about an hour before the actual event.

Is Sami Zayn healthy? The Rumble would be a great way to elevate a new star.

There may or may not be a surprise Rumble winner.
Observer Live...or Rajah.com...
You be the judge.

Exactly, they had hope when those guys came out, especially Dolph who got dare I say the biggest reaction outside Bryan. The moment Dolph went out casually, the crowd just gave up. They knew Ambrose had no chance and they hated everything else.

I haven't read most of this thread, but why didn't Alvarez come out and say it? If it turned out to be true, he could always point at this and say "well we reported it would be someone unexpected, and here it is." Literally anyone could go on radio and say the exact same thing.

Probably needs to protect sources. At least just saying, "It's someone unexpected," gives you a level of deniability and some doubt as to if he's telling the truth, if he says, "It's Kofi," or something and only a small handful of people have that information, his source is probably in deep shit.

The last 10 Rumble Winners: Reigns Batista Cena Sheamus Del Rio Edge Orton Cena Undertaker Rey-Rey ----------
The bar for "surprise winner" is pretty low right now. I'm looking at this list and thinking either Kane or Big Show.

Is Sami Zayn healthy? The Rumble would be a great way to elevate a new star. He's not ready for that spot. Going from not on the main roster to Mania main event? We don't even know if he'll be over with normal Raw crowds week to week.

It makes sense for a "surprise winner" because other then Lesnar and Rollins who is injured and maybe Ambrose everyone else who would be a "non surprise" winner has already won before. Looking at all the potential "surprise" winners who are credible enough and would get a huge reactuin(Cesaro,Samoa Joe,Kevin Owens,New Day,Wyatt)
If your gonna go to a repeat winner I doubt they would wanna make Orton,Del Rio or Sheamus a time winner. And whether management is all in on Reigns as the future company or worried he is Lex Luger 2.0 either scenario makes him for a bad RR winner. If you believe he is the future are you really gonna blow your wad on his 2nd Rumble win this soon? And whether Cena is gonna face Undertaker or transition to handing the torch him as rumble winner also doesn't make sense in either scenario.

I'm looking at this list and thinking either Kane or Big Show. Also brings attention to the fact only 4 of the last 10 winners would go on to win their title match at 'Mania. Only five have got 'the' main-event slot and only 3 were competing for their first top title.
