True, DA is by no means a great channel, but it's rare for any national channel in America to be gun ho about wrestling. Even if for a little while. It seems like it could be a great home to a rising indie. Some place like CZW, AIW, or AAW if any of them really started picking up momentum. However, given how TNA failed to bring in the viewers they promised plus all that other ish with Dixie is it safe to say the Earth has been salted there for future wrestling programs?

Yeah, it's never going to happen. It was a poor fit to begin with, and both companies' idiocy did noting to help it.

Nah, wrestling fans did that by not giving a f*** about "Bigfoot Performs an Exorcism" and "Nessie Visits the STD Clinic"

Nope, for as much crap as Dixie gets, the people who run DA supposedly had very unrealistic expectations for both TNA and ROH... and supposedly their dealings with ROH didn't go so well either. I just don't think the DA people had any idea what went on in wrestling.

Dixie was right. They are dummies. I just wouldn't have emailed that to them.

Yes it was just proven that even with recognizable talent like Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy, that a wrestling show isn't very profitable. That advertisers don't want anything to do with it.

Seems like everyone involved gets blame. The network thought they were going to get big ratings fast, but there was mismanagement.

I thyink it was a case of Destination America thinking wrestling fans are ignorant rednecks and as such, would watch their redneck programs., and when we didn't, they placed the blame on us instead of their crap programming.

The issues were that TNA oversold themselves on the previous accomplishments from Spike and DA thought they would elevate their status to the level of Spike. Taking them out of the slums of cable tv. But TNA didn't deliver on the hype and DA wanted them gone because they could pay a bunch of drunk hillbillies to chase Bigfoot with a camera to get the same results & spend a lot less money. DA was never all in on wrestling. They just wanted save the network before the next rebranding by Discovery. When TNA failed, they try to go with ROH as a replacement. When ROH didn't take off for various reasons (A rerun due to it airing on Sinclair networks first, only 1 replay at 11pm Eastern), they dropped them also.
But the problem isn't about TNA salting the earth for Destination America. The problem is that other cable networks won't want a wrestling show their network not WWE related due to TNA's reputation and results. WGN America still wants in on wrestling but I'm afraid that TNA rejecting them twice will make them say f*** it to other companies who might want a show on the station.

They cancelled it for "Racist Bigfoot", "In Search of Bigfoot", "Flying Bigfoot", and "Bigfoot Does Sheboygan".

It got better ratings than their other stuff, but if lucrative advertisers refuse to advertise on it, and the viewers don't translate to the rest of their lineup, then it just wasn't going to work, and short of getting WWE, which would never happen, odds are that the story would be much the same whoever they brought in.

This pretty much sums it up in my opinion. Dixie would have lied her ass off and instead of saying "We have a fan base of 200,000-300,000 that we can bring with us" she probably sold them on the idea of getting 800,000-900,000 viewers. This is why DA was so happy with them to begin with and gave TNA pretty much everything they wanted. Once they realised that Dixie sold them a lemon they were done with her.

Destination America: Why, you just picked all my flowers. TNA: You can't make a float without flowers. Destination America: Sure, but did you have to salt the earth so nothing would ever grow again?

Well they need to look at other indies, Deej wants CZW to get tv but he flat out says he's not paying for a tv slot.

I would say go for Championship Wrestling from Hollywood since they got experience doing episodic tv and got a roster ready for the spotlight.

Maybe local. Their production is way too indie to attract a national channel.
