The commentary is WWE is bad, we've said it time and again. A lot of this might be attributed to Vince yelling in the poor bastard's ears through the whole show, restricting what they can say to a stupid degree, making them sell things over and over and forcing buzzwords on them. However, I don't think the commentators are all that bad. Cole has show in the past, like on Smackdown, or on Beast on the East or his sit down interviews, that he can be good at his job. He is trying his best, is what I take away from him. JBL is loud, obnoxious and overbearing, but he's trying. Saxton adds almost nothing, but he's harmless and doesn't detract from the show. (This isn't a reason to have him commentate- of course things would be better with a real commentator who ADDS to the show). Lawler is dogshit awful. Just terrible. He adds nothing but he also detracts from the show. I cannot stand listening to this guy make the product worse than it is. And the worst thing? He doesn't give a shit, it is so obvious he is phoning it in, and that to me makes him far worse than Cole and JBL. I can't stand Lawler. I forget how awful he is as I barely watch Smackdown and thankfully he isn't on RAW but then the next PPV rolls around and he is inexplicably on the desk with his awful t-shirts and horrible commentary. Please, Lawler, go away.

I actually think JBL is way worse.
At least King means well and he actually has a funny joke for every 1,000 he says.
JBL is just f***ing horrible. Listening to him on commentary is as enjoyable as getting a hole drilled into your skull.

I think sometimes fans on the internet do complain too much and can be short-sighted about some of the things we complain about with regards to WWE. However, I think we're all correct, 100%, when we repeatedly state how the commentary is bringing the whole show down. Maybe I was just spoilt with JR and a heel Lawler in the late nineties?

I'd agree about being spoiled. We got Gorilla and Jesse, Gorilla and Bobby, JR and King, even Cole and Taz had good chemistry together, but the current team are so bad. It feels so forced and they have no chemistry with eachother at all.

On a show in which Roman Reigns won his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship and overcame The Authority's mounting odds, remaining face in the process, only to lose his title to Sheamus who left Survivor Series as world champion, somehow the worst thing was absolutely still Jerry Lawler.
One day I'm going to take the time to count the amount of obnoxious "WOO-HOO!" caterwauls in one show, then probably proceed to drink all the bleach in the world. He's the worst, just the absolute worst and nobody can convince me otherwise. I was over the moon when he got demoted to SmackDown because I don't watch SmackDown and it meant that I'd only be subjected to Lawler's nails-on-a-chalkboard voice once per month at a pay-per-view. I only have the urge to mute WWE programming twice: whenever the Full Sail audience comes up with a chant that they think is HILARIOUS and any time Jerry Lawler speaks.

Depending on how old or where you watched your wrestling, some had Gordon Solie, Lance Russell, NWA/WCW JR, Tony Schavoine, Joey Styles, etc.. On the plus side at least it's not David Crockett or Mark f***ing Madden.

At least dogshit doesn't assault your ears like Lawler does.

It's not a help when his shortcomings are highlighted even more when you don't hear him talk in the weeks between PPV's (I hardly watch SD).
Damn the camera panned to him last night and the guy just looked old and haggard

Nah, JBL is worse.
He talks shit and does it at twice the volume of the other announcers.
If it was just Cole as play by play and Lawler as the heel colour man, it'd be much better.

Here's my problem with complaining about Lawler: If we get rid of Jerry do you actually have faith they will stick somebody "better" in that position?
You aren't going to get another Gorilla or Heenan in that seat right now. You are much more likely to get another Micheal Cole corporate shill. Lawler can suck right now, but you can tell he goes off script still. He at least sorta tries sometimes. His replacement will be a 100% Perfectly-Sculpted-For-Corporate-Awareness Bullshit Artist.
They aren't putting a Corey Graves in that seat right now. With the current environment you'll get a soulless stooge like Saxton/Cole.

Well at least if I had never realised Jerry Lawler was never WWE champion, Michael Cole only reminded me about 5000 times

King is the drizzling shits, knows it and doesn't care. Vince will never mess with him so he shows up shortly before they go on TV and regurgitating the same crap while having zero clue what is actually going on. Meanwhile JBL knows too much but cannot get anything in because he's got to repeat all the screaming in his ear. Amazing how Vince manages take them both down.

The commentary on New Japan's show on AXS made me realize what we're missing out on. I'd never expect it to be straight away that good, they gotta shill their stuff, but man it could be so much better than it is right now.

JBL is NOT trying. He sits there and repeats the same things every match, every week.

That was his best night on commentary in ages due to the way he made his S.Series match with Team Doink sound like an all-time classic.
Cole is the one I can't stand as he's got into the habit of making everything sound extra fake (for all his faults that wasn't one until recently). Plus his contemptuous treatment of the newer commentators bugs me, at least JBL earned that right to some degree.
