Today was my last day of work before getting like two weeks off.
I got to leave super early at 11 AM instead of 5 PM.
And I get to watch Final Battle.
What a good day!

I decided it'd be fun to look at the records of the participants at Final Battle 2015 to help answer chazraps' question about undefeated streaks at Final Battle. ROH's done a pretty good job of not building an Undertaker at first glance, but if we dig deeper, the results might surprise you. Of our 8.5 (YouTube exclusives are 0.5, right?) announced matches, we've got quite the menagerie of records. No sense in waiting on this one. Analysis in spoilers so as not to take up too much page length. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Let's start with that 0.5...
Our YouTube match is Brutal Bob Evans vs. Cheeseburger. Both men are 2-0 at Final Battle, having picked up the wins in the dark matches of 2013 and 2014's editions of the event. We'll most likely see one of these men extend their streak to 3-0, but do dark matches really count? WWE logic says "hell no", but I'm fine with it for now. After Final Battle 2015, we are almost GUARANTEED a 3-match win streak at Final Battle! Hedging my bets in case of a double DQ or a double count-out, but that won't happen. It's Final Battle for a reason, right?
The first match proper is Silas Young vs. Dalton Castle. Young is 1-0 at Final Battle, beating Mark Briscoe in a strap match at the 2013 event, while this is Dalton Castle's Final Battle debut. Either Young extends to 2-0, or we see the Peacock rise triumphant. Personally, I'm with #DemBoys, and I don't mean the Briscoes.
Michael Elgin vs. Moose. For God's sake, he's called Moose. He also owns a 1-0 record at Final Battle, defeating RD Evans at last year's event. No marching band for that man. Elgin, by contrast, owns a 2-2 record at Final Battle, with wins over TJ Perkins (or, as Magiconz would say, professional TNA dick rider Manik) in 2011 and Tommasso Ciampa in 2014 that pair nicely with losses to Adam Cole (BAYBAY!) in a Triple Threat also involving Jay "I'm the Pretty One" Briscoe in 2013 and Roderick "My Style is Backbreaker" Strong in 2012. Either Moose plows over another victim this year, or Elgin picks up some invaluable momentum heading into Wrestle Kingdom X. My vote is for Boris and Natasha to get one-half of their revenge. Now, they will need Squirrel...
We get to the Triple Threat #1 Contender's tag match, and here's where my interest is piqued, records-wise. The Briscoes have a fairly solid record at Final Battle, with Jay going 7-3 and Mark going 6-4 at the big dance. ANX is in a less stellar boat, with Kenny King going 2-2 and Rhett Butler Titus racking up a pitiful 1-4. But those teams aren't the real fascination here. No, that honor belongs to the third leg of this chair, the Young Bucks.
The Young Bucks are 5-0 at Final Battle, with wins in 2009 (over Steenerico), 2011 (Tag Team Gauntlet, defeating Future Shock and the All Night Express), 2013 (Adrenaline RUSH), and 2014 (trios action, teaming with ACH to defeat Cedric Alexander and the Addiction). They have a chance to go to 6-0 in this match, which would be a mean feat (not to be confused with mean feet, which they have). Exciting stuff, and I can't wait to see how it shakes out.
What they would call Trios action in Chikara up next, with ACH, Matt Sydal and Alex Shelley taking on the team of KRD, comprised of Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and Chris "Hail" Sabin. ACH is 1-1, as is Sydal. Shelley is 1-2, so with a combined record of 3-4, the face team is looking kind of sad. What's our heel group look like? Well, Christopher Daniels is the owner of a pitiful 1-5 record at Final Battle, catching more Ls than the entire face team combined. Kazarian is 0-1, and Chris Sabin is making his Final Battle debut here tonight. My God, this match is a redemption quest in the W/L column for everyone involved.
Let's move on to something less depressing...oh, it's Future Shock Collides. Okay. Adam Cole (BAYBAY!) is 2-4 at the event, and Kyle O'Reilly owns a more respectable 3-3 record. Can Adam Cole dig himself out of his hole and climb to 3-4? Will Kyle O'Reilly taste the north side of .500? Who will come out on top in this clash of former best friends turned bitter rivals? I dunno, probably Ric Flair. It seems to be his thing.
The ROH Tag Titles are on the line next, with the champions the Kingdom facing off against War Machine. No, not Rhyno, the team of Ray Rowe and "War Beard" Hanson. Seriously, "War Beard"? Can I call myself "War Pants" and wear really violent pants? Eh. Hanson is 1-0 and Rowe is making his debut at the event, setting them up in the precarious position of gold or gloom. Taven is 0-1 and Bennett is tapping Maria Kanellis, so his wins and losses don't matter. He already won the big one. Okay, fine, he's 1-2 at the event. Will history prove precedent, or will the Kingdom reign supreme? Hey, I like the sound of that...
The TV Title is up for grabs in our semi-main, as "Dammit" Bobby Fish takes on champion Roderick "He's Not the Messiah of the Backbreaker, He's a Very Naughty Boy" Strong (wow, lookit that setup, kids). Strong actually owns a lengthy Final Battle record. At 6-5. he has more Final Battle matches under his belt than anyone else on the card this year. Bobby Fish owns a 2-2 record at Final Battle, actually having competed as far back as 2007 at the event. Something tells me this could be a sleeper choice for a great match. We'll see how it really pans out, though.
The main event. ROH World Title on the line. The Phenomenal One vs. Black Machismo. Whaddya mean that's not his gimmick anymore?! Damn kids...AJ Styles is only 1-0 at the event, dropping Kaz Hayashi on his head in 2003. Lethal has a much longer history at the event, owning a great 5-2 record (including a dark match loss at the very first Final Battle to Homicide). Does the man who helms the Bullet Club put one between the eyes of the most Lethal man in professional wrestling? Or will Styles be getting a dose of some cold, hard Truth? Only time and your PPV fee will tell. So there we have it. Final Battle 2015 in a nutshell. I was shocked to discover so few wrestlers actually had immaculate records at the event. This may have gotten me to do what I swore never to do... {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Root for the Young Bucks. God, that makes me feel dirty. Can't let this go with a simple "like." Fan-damn-tactic. And thank you. Now my contribution: I don't know how to do the spoiler thing -- I did at one time but I guess I've forgotten -- and I'm too lazy to figure it out, so I'll just ruin everybody's fun and tell you that I have a source who has told me that, no matter the outcome ... ... There's gonna be a SUPERKICK PARTY tonight!!!!!! If you ain't watching ... BE JEALOUS!!!!!

Two things:
1. It's kinda crazy that they managed to keep AJ away from the world title for this long. 2. Goddamn, Taeler Hendrix is foine.

As is customary with ROH shows for me, here's to hoping Fat Man Baby Elgin loses.

Dalton Castle is one of the few people that can be decked out in sparkles yet still makes you think he's gonna cut a bitch.
