Not in Canada. The government (I think it was the federal government, but perhaps it was a provincial one) passed a law in the early 90s banning the sale of transparent-colored soda because it looked too healthy (it resembled water). Crystal Pepsi was something that sold in Canada up to a certain point in time, however. Sprite and 7up doesn't count as clear? I had some clear pops before like Jones cream soda. How clear was Pepsi crystal in comparison? My guess was that those big, powerful companies bribed the government to be made exceptions to the law (Just as the LCBO and The Beer Store are the only privately owned retail stores permitted to sell alcohol in Ontario). However, it appears that the ban was not applied to all soda, but rather, caffeinated soda. The ban was evidently lifted a few years ago. Source: blog.graywriterrv.com/?p=541

Pepsico is a big powerful company 2. Crystal Pepsi was non-caffeinated.

Wasn't Surge supposed to be coming back recently, too? It is back, but not nationwide, as far as I know. Some states have it in stores, other places you can just order it off of Amazon.

(Even if the legislation had been passed when Crystal Pepsi was still on the market, Pepsi could have easily bribed the government to make an exception for its brand if it cared that much about selling Crystal Pepsi in Canada.) 2. Are you ribbing me?

Wasn't Surge supposed to be coming back recently, too? IIRC, a number of stores carry it throughout the midwest, but no so much on the East and West Coasts.

I live in Iowa and I bought a Surge this morning. Sitting in the office fridge for this afternoon. I'm living like kid again for the day; Star Wars and Surge baby!

They've released it specifically in regions that citrus soda traditionally does well, such as the midwest and southeast (North Carolina, specifically is a major citrus soda market)
