"Flop" is a strong word, I think right? It'll easily make it's budget back and then some. It's definitely not a mega success by any means though. It's a flop, Just accept it and move on. for everyone's sake Compelling argurment, but I don't think it qualifies as a flop. It definitely underperformed though. I like some nuance in my words, just accept it and move on.

Drop what?
Talking about how well it did at the box office?
That's fairly normal discussion regarding a big movie.
Oof, I didn't realize anyone could just dictate the terms for each individual thread.
I'd love a crack at some TNA threads then.
Rule #1: Any mention of Dixie Carter must be accompanied by one verse of dueling banjos......on the bagpipes!

Wow, the un-ironic use of 'cuck' as an insult makes an appearance in this thread. This thread has officially hit rock bottom. The idea that people are throwing it around ironicly is amusing to me really.

Going by the rule of thumb a movie has to make double its budget before it starts turning a profit, Ghostbusters is well short of the $290 million required to do that (it's at $125 million right now), has already opened in all the markets that will have earned it the most money, and is past it's peak earning window in those markets. Unless it hangs around in theatres for at least another month with little to no drop off it won't make much of a profit, if any at all, until it hits the home market, which isn't traditionally enough to satisfy the Hollywood people in high places. It's certainly not a flop or a bomb, but it's a serious under-performer. Yup. For a franchise-starter, it really needed to be more in the 400+ million worldwide kind of range at least, rather than what currently looks more like "scraping a profit thanks to the DVD sales" kind of range. It's betting $100 and winning $5. Yeah, you got money back, wooooo, but it's barely anything and you told your friends (shareholders) that you were gonna win at least $50. They'll want you to go for a different bet next time. All said and done, I don't quite think the appetite was really quite there for this one. Yet I wouldn't be too surprised if they tried to double-down and committed to a sequel.

I'm aware there are some who don't want this thread locked, but at this point we don't have a choice because it's just devolved into pointless arguing.
