Looking back, should WWE have written them off a little worse than they did?
Diesel looked strong as hell against Shawn and Razor had a competitive match with Vader on the same show.
Instead, why not let Vader destroy Diesel on the way out on a Raw.
And Razor lose another ladder match to Shawn in a squash.
Hell, have Austin upset Diesel or Razor on a Raw as well.
It seems, looking back, they got off easy by rarely doing any jobs, then boom, they show up in WCW.
Personally, I think they made Diesel and Razor look too good, before they joined WCW.
Agree?

They were part of the Kliq. I assume that was that.

You forget how good the Kliq were at making people look bad, if they were told to job to Austin they would make him look like a six foot turd in the ring, either having an intentionally bad match or having Shawn go over him in a 5 minute match the following Raw.

I remember Nash telling a story that Vince wanted him to get squashed quickly by Ultimate Warrior and Nash refused.

Vince allowed Nash to pick the people who he will lose to before he left. Vince wanted him to lose the The Undertaker, HBK and Warrior. Nash refused to job to Warrior, so he only lost to HBK and The Undertaker. At Good Friends, Better Enemies,Vader should have killed Razor and Shawn and Diesel should have reunited and then the next night Diesel gets killed by Vader, this would make Vader look like a bad ass and set off the Vader VS HBK feud.Vader killing Shawns good friends and making them too scared to stay in the WWF and off to WCW would be a good storyline.

Slightly off topic, but I remember when Diesel was jobbing out to HBK and Razor was jobbing to Hunter on the house show circuit a writer from Pro Wrestling Illustrated wrote something in their monthly column giving a kayfabed explanation as to why wrestlers tend to lose a lot of matches on their way out of a promotion.

I like this. Kliq Killer Vader. Don't forget 1-2-3 Kid too. He would bounce all over the ring and put Vader over big time. Then when HHH and Vader finally meet down the road he can reference this. HHH: You killed all my friends. Diesel, Razor, Shawn, Kid..... put you can't put me down. When I'm finished with you, you can s*ck it. Vader: You are a piece of s*it. Think of the promo wars.

I think realistically Diesel could've put over Ahmed Johnson. What's wrong with that one? He was going to be the #2 babyface anyways. He eats a pearl river plunge and he's gone to WCW.
Hall should've put over Owen Hart or British Bulldog. The idea of one of them running out Razor and then Shawn defending his honor would work. Maybe Owen gives Hall the Enziguri of Doom on Hall. Sharpshooter. Gone to WCW as well.
Shit, they got out of the WWF so easily....

The power of Michaels probably spared them a ritualistic embarrassment. Why would his buddies be inconvenienced even a smidge before they went down to Atlanta to make an abusive amount of money?

Honestly I think the WWF benefited a lot from keeping Razor and Diesel strong. By doing so, it keeps them respected, and in turn gives signature wins to Bret, Undertaker, Shawn (for beating Diesel), Goldust, Vader, Bret, etc (for beating Razor). Then when those guys got to WCW and started tossing around Sting, Luger, Savage and the Horseman, the WWF looked like the much better kayfabe league.

Diesel was the most natural option to face Shawn though, the Razor thing had been done plus he hadnt been around in months due to suspension so how would you build it.
Diesel vs Ultimate Warrior would have been interesting though, not for quality of course.

It didn't though, no-one who watched at the time thought that. The WWF looked like Diesel and Razor had walked all over them and left a sinking ship, the WWF looking like a company that had a big slice taken out of the main event scene while WCW looked all the stronger for it, they had hot talent who could go toe to toe with their guys and the likes of Hogan and Savage, who still felt like outsiders themselves.

If Nash had refused to Warrior, I say screw with the Kliq and make them bury Razor Ramon in :35 seconds or so then. He's gone and not coming back, who cares how buried he is.

I was a grade school kid at the time and I thought that, as did my wrestling fan friends. From a kayfabe standpoint, how doesn't WWF look better? While Hall and Nash are terrorizing WCW, Shawn Michaels and Vader are the Summerslam main event and the last time the Outsiders were on TV, they did clean jobs to each of those guys. I will agree it didn't look good from the promotion, but the guys who Diesel and Razor jobbed to definitely benefited.

Good luck getting them, especially Nash, to go out getting buried. Didn't him and DDP do the job to O'Haire and Palumbo? Were they squashed though? That's the question. I'm just Big Jobber wouldn't care as long as the money was there. When he came back in 2002, did he win ANY singles matches? I don't think so.

Because you'd piss off your PPV buying audience if the matches were not any good or squashes
